"hi stayed in this hotel and was ripped off on the taxi to the pyramids. cost was 45 dollars, plus entry tickets at 60 Egyptician pounds x 2 and 30 Egp, then £29 if you wanted to go on a horse or camel, plus I was taken to the tourist shop. Also they offer a 1 night tour oases at 100 US dollars, the travel agent round the corner does the same tour for 85 US dollars. The room was nothing like the photos on the web site, the foyer is exactly what it is in the photo but the other areas do not show how the furniture, carpet are a bit faded. Also I paid 70 Egyptian pounds for a taxi to the airport, I paid 50 going from the airport into the city centre, staff told me the difference was for the ticket, there was no ticket, there was a toll on the road but no money changed hands. plus the taxi stopped at the next hotel on the same street, a 3 min walk, and a couple got in and they had paid 50 Egyptian pounds via their hotel. The bedding - bottom sheet was marked slightly, bathroom was fine but no towel. overall it was £18 a night for a single room - would describe it as a hostel rather than a hotel. but for £18 standard was okay. breakfast was good , egg, fruit, bread cheese and jam. overall it was clean. would not say do not go but just be aware of the rip offs. Nice, noisy rooms
"Hotel Arabesque is situated in a run-down concrete building, so we were surprised to see the interiors some floors up. Looks recently refurbished. Some rooms are noisier than others, but no matter where you stay you hear the traffic on the Hiway '6th of October. The breakfast is not worth the wait. If you're looking for nice surroundings for sleeping, and don't mind the noise, Arabesque is an obvious choice."
