Sa Coma Holidays
Fellow travellers say Sa Coma is great for…
The Majorcan resort of Sa Coma is a firm favourite with British holidaymakers looking for a quiet sunshine break that’s within short flying distance of the UK. Situated on Majorca’s east coast, the town is a modern resort with much of it only dating back to the 1980s. Package holidays in Sa Coma tend to focus on the larger, more modern hotels and their fantastic facilities and kids clubs.
Sa Coma offers a variety of restaurants and although menus are largely aimed at British visitors, there are places serving authentic and reasonably priced traditional Majorcan cuisine. The town has several British-owned bars and although these can become very lively in high season, it’s unusual to find places still busy after midnight. Those looking for late-night revelling would be advised to hop in a taxi and travel the five minutes to nearby Cala Millor where things get a bit more lively.
Holidays in Sa Coma are often centred on the fantastic main beach. A long, stunning sandy stretch, it is hugely popular during the summer months. There is an excellent range of facilities on and around the beach, with cafes, bars and restaurants serving refreshments and businesses offering water sports and pedalo hire.
Traveling around this part of Majorca is best done with a private hire car as public transport tends to be unreliable and infrequent. Direct buses into Palma run several times a day during the summer but for more complex or lengthy journeys, hiring a car is your best bet. Car hire is affordable and competent drivers should have no problem on the fairly quiet roads. The adjoining resort of S’Illot is well worth a visit. An old fishing village, Sa Coma’s neighbour doesn’t attract the same number of package holiday deals and retains a unique Majorcan charm.
