Fellow travellers say Corralejo is great for…
On the northern tip of Fuerteventura is Corralejo, the island’s largest holiday resort. The centre of the town still manages to retain its traditional character despite the thousands of people spending their holidays in Corralejo each year. Fortunately, the resort has avoided the development of high-rise apartment blocks, making Corralejo one of the most attractive destinations in Fuerteventura. While the resort isn’t without its souvenir shops and the like, this makes up only a small part of Corralejo.
The beaches here are by far the biggest draw, with tourists booking up package holidays in Corralejo every year to enjoy the 4 miles of fine sand beach that stretches along the length of the town. The clear blue water is very inviting and while there is ample room on this expanse of sand, you may wish to take the short drive to one of the small coves dotted along this stretch of coastline. To the south of the town you can’t fail to notice the miles of rolling white sand dunes, and a day exploring these is recommended.
The rise in the number of people visiting Corralejo on package holiday deals has allowed sufficient demand to offer holidaymakers a wide choice of activities. Mountain biking, jeep safaris and motorbike tours are just three of the activities you can enjoy here.
Additionally, you are well located to visit the neighbouring island of Lanzarote, as the ferry leaves directly from the resort. As is typical of many resorts in the Canary Islands, the restaurants, bars, and shops are concentrated in one area; here it is along the main street that leads down to the picturesque harbour. Corralejo’s nightlife is fun and unintimidating, and there are plenty of highly regarded places to eat; whether you are looking for traditional Canarian fare, tapas or another European cuisine, you will find many restaurants to choose from.
