Club La Costa DON'T SIGN UP

"We signed up for a trial membership and had our free holiday with flights which was ok, we had to attend a meeting whilst there and was tempted into signing up for a full membership which we then had second thoughts about and canceled. Whilst at the meeting we were plied with drinks, sandwiches and there was even a kids supervised playroom so that you couldn't use the excuse kids are getting bored. They had thought of everything and they were very keen for you to keep away from any other people in the building that were there for the same reason, just invade you conferred with each other. As they can offer all sorts if things to get you to sign in the dotted line. However we still had our trial membership to use and went on our prelude holiday where again we were bullied in to another meeting Ben we were adamant we wasn't interested in signing up full time. We were threatened they would take a week off our trial or charge us if we did not attend. But my main gripe is all tui nonsense that it's a good deal is pure and utter nonsense. As much as we want out we have these trial weeks to us and booked one for Turkey, but flights are ridiculously expensive and CLC themselves and their so called travel line have quoted £2000 for myself husband and daughter. This is not frviff what we paid for the trial membership. How is this a good deal, we could get an all inclusive holiday for this amount of money which includes transfer, flights and accommodation. Never again and I would strongly advise anyone not to sign up. It's a rip off and don't believe what they say or how they sit their with their felt tips doing all these sums and writing in front of you trying to convince you you'd be better off. Because you won't."

fantastic resort for all ages

"october 2007 we have just returned from a week at club la costa with eleven of my family ages ranging for 1 year to 55 years every one had a brilliant time the kids loved the marine club which was by the pool so while we were relaxing round the pool could still keep our eye on the kids even though they were very well looked after the two restaurants on site zacharys and mary at janices were well worth the money and lovely breakfasts wouldnt have been able to make it for the price they charged the rooms were also brilliant very big rooms and balconys the size of a football pitch with lovely views over the sea the only down side of the whole holiday was the very steep hill down to the town and beach it would have been nearly impossible for us to walk this with the children so hired a people carrier to get us all around would definately go back again and would recommend it to any age group"

Ok for Half Term - nothing startling though

"Just got back from 2 weeks at Paradise Club having used our RCI points to book up. We knew it was not a Gold Crown resort before booking, but had been advised it was very popular nevertheless (it was).

The general impression is that the resort and accommodation are adequate - and not really better than that. Our 2 bed apartment was fairly basic (unrefurbished) and although adequate for our needs, lacked any little extra touches; the en suite bathroom was tiny, and furniture was all quite badly knocked about, although it was clean. We were concerned to find that our apartment overlooked the main entrance but upon investigation found that many apartments had far worse views/lack of privacy - I am surprised this has not been commented on in previous reviews.

The pool area is cramped (although at half term it was exceptionally busy). Regardless of instructions about not reserving sunbeds, there were simply not enough to go round so it was a case of 'if you can't beat them join them'. We did feel a little like sardines and it's hard to get away from the greasy cafe smells.

Staff at the small reception were helpful and friendly, although check out on Friday is a bit of a nightmare as there is too much going on and too many people in a small area.

We had great weather which was what we had really gone for. No, I would not go again, but then again, I think I am fed up with Tenerife generally. Prices had risen since we last visited 18 months previously, and we found ouselves paying UK prices for extremely sub-standard food in local restaurants, and when staying at the Paradise Club, you have to factor in the requisite daily taxi trips (and food at Zacary's in the resort was pretty poor as well - and expensive). The few good restaurants we found (Verde, Molino Blanco, local Thai) were E100-150 for 2 adults and a veggie 12 year old - quite pricey when all we wanted was a cheap half term holiday in the sun.

The kids club for little ones was run by very enthusiastic girls and if you have younger children (below 11 would be ideal) you would get your money's worth out of this. However, it's not the best of places, and I will stick with Gold Crown standard next time I use my RCI points (hopefully NOT in Tenerife!)

Family Resort ??????????

"I have been an owner of an apartment for four years. In the past, all members of the family have been catered for. Besides the usual excellent facilities at the poolside, including Mary at Janices eatery, the children were entertained by the Team Marina, keeping them well entertained.

In the evening entertainment was provided at Murphys Bar, with various live acts, resident compere, and always an act suitablefor the younger element. As the majority of the guests at this time (half term) were British, the acts were well received, and the kids were able to move around the resort in safety.

On the latest visit, the full programme at Murphys was found to be substantially reduced, with no live act for the kids, and the usual live act rduced to one. On arrival day (Friday) the bars was actually closed. The bars is only staffed by one barman, who did a great job, but was rushed off his feet. (Rugby World Cup night in particular.

Whereas in the past, the resort was geared to family entertainment,Club la Costa seem to be moving away from that. This necessitates familys to go away from the resort to the local bar/club area for entertainment.

My view is that if you want a family resort do not use the Paradise Club at Club laCosta Tenerife.

Paradise Club - recommended

"Paradise Club is a large complex on the hillside away from the bustle of Playa de las Americas but easily within reach by a longish walk, or very short taxi/shuttlebus ride.

The grounds are landscaped, and the apartments organised so that there is an open feeling about the resort. Almost every apartment has a large balcony looking out over the town and sea, beyond to La Gomera and lovely sunsets. The apartments are well-equipped: ours had two modern and clean bathrooms and plenty of utensils etc for six.

It is *very* hot here in August: apartments have ceiling fans, and extra fans and air-conditioning units are available for hire. The extra fans cost 12 euros each per week, but the air-con units are 90 euros per week: I didn't get the aircon, but next time I will - I think it will be money well spent.

There are plenty of facilities for adults:snack bars, restaurants and a convenience store, with a full supermarket two minutes walk away at the bottom of the complex. Swimming pools are good, and there are generally enough loungers, though the rule that guests not reserve them is not strictly enough enforced, IMO.

I enjoyed my stay at the Paradise Club, and will return.

wonderful holiday

"my parents have been memebers with club la costa for 9 years now. my family (my partner and two children aged 5 and 3 years) and parents went in october 2006. When we got there we received a great welcome. Food; great variety and choice, well priced. Rooms: 2 bedroom apartment, just refurbished and decorated, beautiful, fridge filled on arrival, huge balcony, loads of amenities, no need to take travel irons hair dryers, kettle. Fully equipped kitchen. very spacious. Pool great, weather lovely, fab tan at the end of the week. kids club on every day, shop in complex. Reception always checking for any problems, happy to help, asking if we need any extras.

Only problem, not much entertainment on the night especially for the kids, but this may have been the time of the year.

Beach was only a two minute taxi drive away great fun, loads of bars, pubs, restaurants, hair brading, bungee trampolining, etc. Water park and safari park close by but never got a chance to go, will this year.

Overall a great holiday, we are returning next week, for a fortnight, hope its as good if not better than last year.

club le costa rip off

"For twelve years we owned a timeshare at the paradise club, it was then fantastic. Staff in reception very ,very friendly and helpful the manager Vince again fantastic as was Carol customer servces from Liverpool.

The Bistro and main restaurant were also good in whole a good time was always had. Alas then club lacosta took over, what can one say, food terrible service in reception horrendous arirved one evening at 2.00 am no porters, were just given keys good job we knew our way around. Management fees trebled and for what reason I have not a clue as the complex had run down not gone better. We eventually sold the apartment for £200 per week we owned weeks 26/27 After paying £7500 what a loss, but to get away from club lacosta it was worth it. We have friends who live on the Andalucia side of the complex and when we go we stay with them. We can go for 6 weeks for the cost of two weeks maintenance and the apartment is far superior.

Great holiday!

"Just returned from a two week relaxing holiday at Club la Costa at Paradise Club.

Arrived 01.50 am, tired after a 6 hour fligt, just 15 min. taxi(22€)drive from Reina Sofia airport. Smooth check-in and we were guided to our apartment of one bedroom, feeling sorry for the man who insisted to take alone care of our two huge luggages. Were happy to hear that they had arranged the stay in same apartment for both weeks, even if we originally had two separate.

Big complex, but surprisingy quiet! Even if our apartment was located just above the main swimmingpoolarea with both restaurants next to it, after 11.00 pm very quiet.

Yes, hig up the hill, but just to enjoy the scenery we often walked down to Fanabe beach or continued just a bit up the hill and downwards to Americas. Up with taxi (9-11€).

The only negative thing we experienced had nothing to do with the resort itself, but the common pricelevel is starting to be very high when it comes to dinner at a restaurang. A normal dinner for 4 persons with no starters or desserts, 2 beer and 2 coke was automatically over 50€.

safe and fun

"have been here numerous times. there is a community within this resort, and everyone is friendly. FeeI I am able to relax knowing the children are playing only a few feet away from me. Only downside is that there is no quality organised entertainment during the day for the kids and not enough to occupy them on an evening, Also the enterainment is near a pool, which is partially hidden by a wooden screen. (accident waiting to happen!)"

Exceeded expectations!!

"Club la Costa at Paraside well exceeded our expectations! We booked up last-minute and this was all that was available, so we took it not expecting much. We booked a 2 bedroom unit for the first week and a 1 bedroom for the second, as this was all that was available. However, when we were checking in on our first day, the recpetionist informed us before we had the chance to even ask her that they would do all they could to keep us in a 2 bedroom for week 2. Sure enough, we received a phonecall on the Wednesday to say we weren't going anywhere, which was brilliant!!

The apartment: very spacious apartments with all required amenties. We had a 2bed, 2bath unit which consisted of a large bathroom and an ensuite in the master which was great. The balcony was also huge - we spent more time sunbathing on the balcony than at the pool, as the design of the building means that the balcony gets complete sunshine all day long, even though we were on the first floor!!

The only downfall I could mention is the hill up to the apartments. Although it doesn't appear to be a very large hill, going up and down it every night can be exhausting. However, you can get a taxi down to the front for about €4.

All in all, though, would definitely recommend!!!

Top Gun Lifeguard!!

"I just got back from at week in Tenerife at these apartments. I stayed there with my family as it is a timeshare apartment that they have. I have been there once before about ten years ago.

When we arrived the apartment was ready immediately which was great as we had been delayed in Manchester and were pretty tired. I was presented with a rose by one of the staff who were greeting new arrivals. The apartment was clean and tidy and they put lovely little extras in like bread milk and eggs in the fridge so you don't have to go out shopping straight away. There was tea and coffee and the usual bathroom bits like soap, shampoo, etc. The rooms are cleaned 3 times a week and towels changed. You can rent towels at reception to use around the pool should you need to.

We went straight out for a meal that night and walked down the hill to find somewhere nice. The apartments are at the top of a very steep hill, however, I managed to walk down and back up it again every day which walked off all the food I'd just scoffed!! It is not a good place to stay if you have trouble walking but there are always taxis available to help the less mobile. Reception will phone you a taxi should you need one.

The pools and jacuzzi are all very clean and there is a lifeguard on duty all day who checks on all 3 pools throughout the day. He looks like he came straight out of Top Gun with his Ray-Bans on! There are no inflatables allowed in the large pool main section which is good as it means there is more room to swim around. There were always sun beds available all day and if you have a problem with anyone leaving their towels on the beds then don't worry as the lifeguard will remove them if there are no spare sunbeds and if they have been there for a while with no-one using them.

The only bad point I have to say is that the entertainment is rubbish!! There is a bar on the complex called Murphys Law and everytime we went up to see what was on there was nothing happening even though they were advertising acts. I recommend you find your own entertainment in the resort. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants in Torviscas, Fanabe and Puerto Colon.

We too got the free breakfast and as other people have said its all about trying to sell you something... However, there is no need to be rude just do as we did and when you arrange the breakfast tell them you will listen to them but you are not going to buy anything. They are happy to just tell you about the resort and give you useful tips on what to do around there and then you get to enjoy breakfast.

`Paradise ` sounds like a Carry On Film and is not much better!

"Just returned form a one week stay at this resort. Having stayed at other RCI time share resort we were expecting a very high standard, we were very wrong!. We found…

1)Reception staff that gave the impression that everything was just to much trouble.

2)One lifeguard on duty over three pools, two are next to each other the third a five minute walk away. This was despite a sign saying all three pools would be manned. This life guard spend most of his time on his mobile or reading a book.

3)Outside general cleanness very poor, swimming pools cleaned once during our week. We picked out rubbish during our swim, i.e. cigarette ends, crisp packets etc. Although the maids did a fantastic job cleaning the rooms they gave 100%. They came three times during the week.

4)Security was a joke. We were woken up a few time over a couple of days by kids ringing the door bell and running, this was on both occasions after midnight. When we called security they did come but knew the kids by name and commented “they are just kids having fun”!!! When we complained the next day reception told us they would keep an eye out. After this we put a piece of cardboard in the buzzer so it would not ring if the button was pressed.

5)On another night we were awoken at 4 AM by a party of adults in the swimming pool drinking and shouting for about an hour. Again we call security and were told “THE POOL IS OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY, but they would have a word!

6)Watch out for the offer of a free breakfast, everyone gets one. You are escorted by a rep who tries to sell you more timeshare. We guessed what was going on so enjoyed our free breakfast and ignored him and just spoke amongst ourselves. We would not even look at him he got the message in the end a walked off without finishing his breakfast

Apart from the above the complex is at the top of a very steep hill. Most people either walk down or use a Taxi but you have to use a TAXI back. My Wife is a fitness freak and she had trouble walking up the hill. Taxis were approx 3 euros each way to the beach.

As I had stated above we have stayed at many RCI complexes in the past and never once had a complaint but this was something else. Our adivse is give it a very wide berth.
