A restaurant with rooms

"The hotel Giardinetto is a perfectly good 2 star hotel but no more than that. It's main function is as a restaurant- and a very popular one too! The hotel side is obviously secondary. On the positive side- a great location for the water taxis and the bus station. A very clean hotel- towels changed every day, bed linen changed twice during our week stay. Evening meals were an unrestricted choice from the al a carte menu - we had a starter, first course, second course and dessert when we could manage it! Great air conditioning- a lot of hotels don't put this on until July. On the negative side- our room only had one plug that would take our adaptor- in the bathroom! The bathroom only had a shower attachment and the bath was so narrow we had to either kneel in the bath or stand with our backs against the wall to use the shower. We only had 2 small bottles of shampoo and 3 small soaps for the whole week . Breakfast was variable. Although it started at 7, the shop where they bought the croissants wasn't open till 8! If the croissants and boiled eggs ran out before about 9.30 that was it- like the toiletries, they weren't replaced. Because the dining area looked over the lake ( lovely) and the doors were wide open sparrows often flew in to sit on and peck at the bread, etc. Food was not covered, and there were sometimes flies on the meats and cheese. (not lovely) Although we had a great week in Garda, next time we're staying in a hotel with a pool and garden- somewhere nice to relax after a long day out!"

Incredible food and service easily make up for average accommodation

"My wife and I have just returned from a week's holiday at the Giardinetto, to celebrate my 50th birthday and I selected this hotel purely on the basis of reading previous reviews. We had a totally wonderful stay, so a big thank you to those reviewers

As has been previously pointed out, the rooms are quite basic and small, but they are kept very clean by the friendly staff.

Our room (No. 23) overlooked the alleyway at the side of the hotel, so no lake view, but we could see the mountains in the distance. A room with a lake view must be stated in any booking.

However, to us, the room is just somewhere to get your head down really and any downside was completely overshadowed by the tremendous plus of being able to guarantee a table every night at, what appeared to us to be, the number one choice seafood restaurant in Garda with the Italian people themselves, if you book half board as we did.

The food was absolutely fantastic in every way, the service was first class and the atmosphere was always vibrant.

We were allowed to select any two courses from the menu, along with side orders of vegetables, salad, chips, oven baked potatoes, etc. so we generally just had a main course and dessert, rather than a 'primi' course of pasta and a main course, as we did this once and there was simply too much!

The cost of our choices would normally be in the region of at least 50 Euros for the two of us, but we didn't pay any extra at the end of our stay, simply the drinks bill.

There are definitely more plush hotels to choose from in Garda, but we never regretted our choice for a moment.

Still cannot believe the star rating!!

What a great place to stay

"Stayed at this hotel in august, the main reason we stayed was because of the reviews on trip advisor( and it was a good deal ).

i must say that the reviews were spot on, the location was A+ the food was A+ (plenty of choice on the half board menu even if you're a bit fussy like me) and it was very clean, the staff were also very friendly form the waiters and cleaners to the owners. as has been said before, yes the rooms are on the small side but then who goes on holiday to sit in the room and watch tv?!?!?! over all a very good experience was had by my wife and I, we will definatley return in the future.

Location, Location, Location!

"We arrived at the Giardinetto late Saturday evening to find a bustling restaurant full to capacity, with others waiting for tables. The food is fantastic and the location of the hotel is perfect - just by the lake side. Our room was located on the front so we had a spectacular lake view. We had some early morning noise but nothing to complain about. The room was small but comfortable and kept clean by 2 very friendly ladies. The main hotel staff were kept busy and so never seemed to have the time to be friendly. As hotel guests, we sometimes felt in the way if we needed to ask about anything. The Giardinetto is a great sea food restaurant and very popular with visiting Italians. The food was superb and served effeciently and professionally. The hotel is centrally located near shops and the water taxi, which is a great way of travelling to other towns around the lake. Hire bikes as the area is quite flat and this is another great way to travel around the lake side.

Definitely a great hotel in a brilliant location. To sit by the lake at sun set with a glass of vino and be served freshly grilled sea bream - bellissimo!!

What Positioning

"My husband and I have just arrived back after spending a week and our 25th Silver Wedding anniversary at Garda's Giardinetto.

The hotel is a small very centrally located lake front hotel, so the positioning is excellent.

The cleanliness was second to none. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis the breakfast was more than adequate with a good and varied choice. The hotel restaurant was very busy as it has a very good reputation for its seafood - no cooking smells in the room at all. We definitely recommend the Giardinetto.

Fantastic Holiday!!

"We stayed at the resort of Garda on Lake Garda which is a beautiful small town. It was ideally located for travelling around the Lake. It is a small town but had plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The food here is delicious and we never had a bad meal during our stay. Our favourite restaurants were the pizzeria ferrari which is opposite the bus station. The staff were brilliant and the service excellent. We also liked the restaurant La Vela on the lake front. Both did excellent food!!

Our hotel, the Giardinetto was located on the lake front so for breakfast we had lovely views of the Lake. The rooms were spotlesslty clean and serviced every day by the very friendly maids. The rooms were quite small and a little old fashioned but certainly very comfortable. We did experience a bit of noise due to the location of the hotel, however it was perfectly situated in the town itself. Breakfast was a buffet style and pretty good although small birds did fly in and help themselves!!

All in all this is a lovely spot and we wouldn't hesitate in going back. There is so much to see in the area and the excursions we took (Venice, the Dolomites and wine tasting) were really good value for money and enjoyable. A fantastic holiday!

Room with a View

"A nice simple hotel with stunning lake views. Good hotel meals. Nice parting gift was a CD of Italian opera produced for the hotel."

Can't fault this hotel

"My wife and I stayed at this hotel in June and were very pleasantly surprised. The room and bathroom were not the biggest but they were spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate. We were on half board and had the pick of the menu at no extra cost. The food itself would not disgrace a 5* hotel. All of the staff were extremely helpful and very pleasant. At the risk of making this hotel too popular, we would definitely recommend it."
