"This hotel is lovely, but we went at the end of the season which meant that what you would get in the peak of the season you never got when we went. Choice of food was not good.No entertainment.we will not go again in October. We feel a bit cheated."

Great relaxing break

"We stayed at this hotel having seen it in the Olympic travel brochure. It was sold as a five star resort and it lived up to our expectation. The photos on the website were a totally true reflection of the place, rooms were immaculate, pools were great and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We went all inclusive and the quality of all the food and drinks were also high and we were thrilled to spend hardly any money for the whole week. The resort was a perfect place to unwind, suiting couples of all ages. We would highly recommend a trip to this place if you want a week where you can relax and unwind in lovely surroundings."

Loved Carda Beach - Excellent Hotel

Firstly for readers of this review, we would like to say that we are very fussy hoteliers and have made independent luxury travel a hobby of ours. We needed a last minute holiday and booked this a week before we left.

With this standard in mind, we were very nervous about going to Carda Beach hotel. However, what we have found out subsequently is that Carda Beach is a new hotel and was completely rebuilt / renovated in July 2007. This hotel is excellent and incredible value for money compared to other 5 star hotels.

Rooms. The rooms are spacious and have excellent, shower facilities. None of the rooms, including the suites have baths. However dont be put off as the design, specifications and the bed is great. The TV is a 20 inch flat screen on the wall and has mostly German and Greek channels. Take some DVD's with you as the room has a DVD player but the collection of films at the hotel is not that great.

Design of Swimming Pool. This is absolutely design led. It looks like you are on some sort of film set. The loungers are comfortable, there is a pool bar serving drinks and snacks. Please note the swimming pools are not heated but the 28 degree weather makes it very comfortable.

Restaurants. There are two a la carte restaurants and an all inclusive dining restaurant. The food is of a very high quality and changes on a regular basis. The Chinese a la carte is just spectacular, especially the duck. What incredible value for money as a meal there should cost in the region of Euros 100.

Spa and Gym. There is a well equipped gym with treadmills which have wonderful views of the sea. There are many cardio machines, free weights and machines. Also my partner had a massage in the spa and she recommends it thoroughly. Good value for money at Euros 35.

Staff. The staff are super helpful and very friendly. Dont get me wrong they are in Greece and they dont have the urgency of London or Mumbai but they are great nevertheless. The cleaners are excellent and the hotel is just spotless.

Overall, we went in the in the very first week of the season in 2008 and got back today and found the hotel really quiet but this secret seems to have gotten out and the hotel started getting really busy very quickly at the end of our stay. I would urge you to go to Carda Beach Hotel if you like great rooms, great swimming pool and excellent value for money. This is a 5 star hotel at 3 star prices.

"The Carda Beach Hotel is the sister hotel to the Mikri Poli hotel, the original booking was for the Mikri Poli, but on arrival we found ourselves in the Carda Beach. This turned out to be great, as it was our 'first holiday' together.

The rooms were both spaceous and spotless, robes, slippers and beach towels were provided.

The food was first class, there are two Al a Carte resturants as well as the main dining hall, being a vegetarian I was pleastly surprised at the choices avaliable.

The staff are polite and friendly, all in all it was a brill holiday and we would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent, perfect

"We actually booked the Mikri Polli, which is the sister hotel next door aimed for families, however as we were a couple we were fortunately booked into the adults only Carda Beach. The Carda opened this season so is practically brand new. The hotel design is very contemporary, spacious and open. There is a lot of use of glass, marble and black granite in the design. Some rooms are on a steep hillside so you may want to mention if this is a problem when booking. We found the Carda Beach to be a calm and relaxing jewel in Kos, just far enough away from the madding crowd but close enough if you want the contrast in the evening in a typical rowdy town.

Rooms - The rooms are spacious and have 7ft wide beds! Bedding can be requested to be changed daily as with towels, beach towels are also provided + towelling bathrobes. The bathrooms are behind a glass wall and have an open shower, which is powerful (a rarity in Greece). There is a TV with a DVD, water and soft drinks stocked and replenished mini-bar and a veranda with table and chairs.

Pool – There are several pools that look like glass amply surrounded by very modern but comfortable sun lounges with umbrellas. There is a pool bar.

Food – We were all inclusive, which I feel was excellent value. The food was of a high standard and was served from the main self-service restaurant for breakfast, lunch and evening dinner. In addition to this were two other restaurants; Italian and Chinese, which you have to book for and have waiter service. The Chinese in particular is very good and is complemented by the fabulous bright red décor. In addition to lunch there are rolls and cake served all day from the pool bar, however there is no food available after evening dinner. If you are looking for an “all you can eat all day and night” all inclusive, then this is not for you. It is a more refined all-inclusive, which does not require you to wear a naff wristband (this may change next year when they offer alternative board options).

Facilities – There is a well equipped gym and regular step classes on offer to fitness addicts and also an indoor pool, which has a 40ft waterfall at one end, you can’t fall over but it is quite odd looking over the edge, there is also a Jacuzzi. They are currently finishing off a spa centre, which will open next year. The hotel bar is open until 2am. There is no hotel entertainment, (which I hate anyway) but you are welcome to go next door to the Mikri Polli and join in the family fun there.

Location – About 10 – 15 min stroll to lively Kardamena or catch a passing bus, which takes 4 mins. The walk at night is not brightly light but you can see and there are always people walking. The hotel beach is a step across a small, un-busy road and provides sun- beds and umbrellas

Kos Great! - Hotel Poor

"Me & my mate stayed at Carda Beach for 2 weeks & were very disappointed. It was only us 2 girls & to get to the town from here u have to walk for at least 30 minutes down an unlit dirt track which is not very safe. The staff were rude & unhelpful. We paid extra to have a sea view, which was good apart from the fact that there were 7foot trees right outside our door & could not see a thing. The breakfast that we paid for was dried up old beans with day old bread!! Right outside the hotel tho is a lovely beach, sometimes there would be just us. Then the man who serves the food comes out from the hotel & makes u pay 4 euros to use a chair on the beach (gettin charged even tho u cant sit round the scabby pool in the hotel because of the broken tiles)

I do advise that u go to Kardamina though. It is a great place if u get a hotel in the town. Bar street is brilliant (be careful of pick pockets - rare but does happen). The clubs are great, foam parties, loads of nice people. We ended up meetin up with the workers & goin out with them.

Not value for money

"We were quite disappointed with the standard of the hotel considering the amount of money we paid to stay there, we expected comfortable and clean accommodation with good facilities. Had we booked a cheap, last minute deal it wouldn't have been so bad but we expected more for our money than what we found when we got there! The rooms are very basic, for example it had only a single plug socket from which you were supposed to run a fidge (which you had to hire), fan and whatever else you need on holiday. The thing that annoyed us the most was that we had been promised a room with airconditioning, which was the main reason we chose the hotel, but were told upon arrival that only a few of the rooms had this facility and ours was not one of them. We were then kindly informed we could hire a fan for our room at a cost of 30 euros a week (it is cheaper to buy one from the nearby supermarket) we also found out later that had we been in a room with air con we would have been charged an extra 60 euros a week!

The hotel did have some redeeming features such as a large salt water pool which was rarely busy with plenty of free sunbeds. It is also located right next to a sandy beach which is lovely. You could tell that when the hotel was originally built it would have been quite a modern hotel of a high standard, however it is clear that over the last 20 years or so it has become run down and has been neglected. Everything in the hotel is shabby, the decor is old and dated, there are various things that need fixing from holes in the wall of the ladies toilets by the pool (which allows you to see into the kitchen next door!) to the radios in the rooms.

The hotel is not suitable for families, it is situated about a 20 minute walk from the centre of the town, the road is not well lit and there are no pavements so I would not suggest families with young children to reach the town this way! It is also too far from the centre to be convenient for people wanting to be near the busy nightlife. The hotel does not provide any entertainment through the day or on an evening. Although it suggests that there is a pool bar, taverna and cocktail bar as far as I could tell the pool bar and taverna were the same thing serving the same food from the same menu and closed in the afternoon. The food served was OK for a snack, for example you would be safe ordering chips and other basic food but that's about it and with no supermarkets nearby it gets a bit boring after a while.

Although the hotel is not all bad I would definately not go back again! It is in the wrong location with poor facilities and is over priced to say the least.

dont go there

"I have been to Greece lots of times and found that the accomodation is either hit or miss. This place misses by a mile. Our beds were on concrfete in a room that stank of the drain ouside the door. While not filthy they were ages old and looked it; the pool was surrounded by broken tiles and the water had a brown tinge....nasty. Ants the size of my thumb carried off the crumbs on the table (and as no-one had been at breakfast it was old food, I dread to think what the kitchens were like) at the welcome meeting, despite staff of two sitting watching. The place is for students used to living in their own bacteria and those that dont care, anyone giving this dump a good review should take a walk around some of the other decent apartments in the resort, closer to the action and modern and clean for the same money. RATING -4 out of 10. yuk"

couples paradise at Carda Beach

"Carda Beach is truly a couple's paradise. We were so concerned having read dubious reports on various websites, how wrong those people were. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it was very clean and spacious. My only wish was that there was more than one electric socket. The hotel is tucked away in beautiful secluded surroundings. Maria and Denis were very helpful and welcoming without being intrusive, Denis is an excellent chef if you wish to have a meal during the day. It was so peaceful on our first morning we thought we had arrived out of season and not in mid July. Plenty of sunbeds around a beautiful pool. The beach is close by and you can go far out in the clear water before it reaches your middle. Kardamena itself is only about a 10 minute walk away, and once you have ran the gauntlet of touts luring you into the numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, it is a truly bustling place and you can enjoy a very good night out. Although the average age of holiday makers is 17 - 26 years, there is something for all ages, however I would be reluctant to take children, there aren't many families holidaying there. I would recommend hiring a quad or car and travel around the island of Kos, which is truly magical, (visit Peter's auto hire, a very helpful and friendly lady there). We loved every minute of our holiday and can't wait to return, one week just was not long enough."

Best of both worlds at Carda Beach

"I have recently stayed at the Carda Beach and agree with what the first reviewer says. Maria and Dennis are welcoming, friendly, helpful and hospitable. It's relaxing, right next to the beach, has the largest pool on the resort and is just a short walk along the seafront to the centre of Kardamena. For my small group this was perfect as it meant we were not right on top of the neon and noise but could very easily get to it even in high heels! The price was exceptional. We booked with Olympic Holidays and got unbelievable value for money. The rooms are basic as are all the other 3* hotel rooms in Kos. Watersports are just along the beach and you can take a walk up into the hills if you want to admire the views. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Dennis and Maria and so I would highly recommend this hotel. If you want value for money, peace by the pool in the daytime and fun in town at night then this is the place for you."

Carda Beach Bliss!

"Me and my 3 girlfriends got a last minute booking to Carda Beach and we just got back (May 04). We loved it. Maria and her brother could not have been more helpful and friendly. The food they made was fantastic. The rooms were basic, but everything was clean and worked. The rest of the place was a retro paradise, spotless and blissfull. The pool was massive (and cold!) and there were so many sun loungers that a whole bus load of Germans couldn't use them all. The walk to town was no more than a slow 15 minute stroll, which makes it an ideal distance away from all the noise and fried food! We felt safe and comfortable the whole time, which for 4 girls abroad, makes a nice change. Couldn't praise Carda Beach enough, when can we go back?!"
