hotel beautiful... food awful.....

"Just arrived back with my family of 17-22 year olds staying the 5th-12th oct.

The hotel itself is lovely, very modern in its recent refurbishment which bumped it from a 3* to a alledged 5*. The Hotel is kept scrupulously clean by a abundance of cleaners.

The biggest let down of the hotel was the food!!...abysmal, It could have been because it was the end of the season and they weren't restocking and was using leftovers, but all the same i didn't pay for leftovers. There was various meats stewing in different coloured fluids, a ample salad and cheese bar, and a bbq which for those whom dare take the risk smelt quite good but 2 of my boys were bedridden for 3 days with food poison through eating chicken!! [never let your guard down and attempt when abroad!] and whatever was left over from dinner was thrown into the stewing concoctions on a evening! chips n all!!!. The food was always cold, they didn't appear to keep it heated, and the flies swarmed whatever food was out, one 2inch square of cake would have 5 flies on it, i can't understand when they had a refurbishment why they didn't install a fly trap.

There was only a choice of 4 drinks at the bar too.

Do visit the Italian restaurant that was def 5*, you are allowed one visit per stay, didn't try the fish restaurant though.

I think we were spoilt from holidaying at the Letoonia in May as there was barely any comparison in the 5*'s, the letoonia was decades ahead of here in all aspects.

The Animation here through no fault of their own as they were very enthusiatic and friendly didn't appear to have had any training and the evening shows were very poor, they made the evenings up as they went along, doing simple simon forms of games and only once in the week did they entertain us with a show of mediocre standard.

That all said the place was lovely, the pools gorgeous and the beach nice, there is a constant breeze which is very welcoming in the heat. Turgutreis 5 miles away and well worth a visit. Def go on the boat trips, they stop and anchor off 5 times for you to swim in crystal clear waters and one beach stop with lunch included and if booked direct with them you will pay about £14 per person rather than the £25 booked with the rep which lasts from 11am to 5.30pm with a free pick up service.

You can also take a 30min boat trip across to cos for a small amount if booked direct at the mariner.

I wouldn't say don't go to this hotel just don't go at the end of the season, its not the first hotel that has closed down round us and i will in future book slightly earlier.

Had a great weeks break

"We booked a weeks break at this hotel for 14 - 22nd September. We really enjoyed the break at this hotel, we would rate this hotel at 4* as opposed to the 5* rating that it has, not complaining at all just being honest. I would definitely go back!!!!!

The hotel complex is quite big with lots of facilities, we had a room for 2 people which was really nice, I though initially the room was a bit small but over the week it proved to be more than sufficient. The hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff are excellent, I found the food to be really nice with a large selection available every day in the main buffet restaurant. Only comment is that although selection is large it does not really change that much, I guarantee you will never go hungry thats for sure. Its a really relaxed AI resort and unlike some I have been to you dont need to sign for everything you get which was great, your wristband was enough and there are no stupid rules about 1 drink at a time etc, and there are numerous bars available inc at the beach.

There are 2 good sized pools and a kids pool, there is also a private beach which is half sand and half shingle, the loungers are busy but we managed to get loungers every day no problem at the beach. The sea is pebbled for the first meter or so then sandy and is very nice, if you have kids just watch the depth as it goes from knee to shoulder depth very quickly.

The clients at this hotel were primarily Russian as were some of the staff, there was also a mix of other european guests, UK guests are in the minority. However dont let this put you off, english is spoken by most staff and we didnt have any issues at all.

We had a great time and we would definitely go back in a flash.

Great hotel

"my husband and i stayed at this hotel from 9th-16th September 2008 and we loved it! we wished we'd booked 2 weeks instead of the 1.

We arrived at 6am and were asked to wait as the receptionist couldn't find our reservation, i thought 'Great!' and was sure we would be transfered to another hotel or get a crappy room, but how wrong was I! the bellboy took our luggage for us and showed us to our room. It was amazing! We had the honeymoon suite and it was gorgeous. The room was very spacious, it overlooked the ampitheatre so we could sit on our balcony at night and watch the entertainment. Our room had a massive reound bed, a bath jacuzzi behind the bed and a seperate shower room. It was cleaned every day to a very high standard.

The pools were nice, although not big enough for the hotel size and amount of guests (somedays we struggled to get a sunbed). The beach was lovely, really warm sea and we had a go on the free pedalo and canoe-which was nice when it was really hot as it was breezy on the sea. The pier was lovely to sunbathe on as it was really brezzy too.

The food was good and the italian a la carte restaurant was nice too (didn't try the fish), although the service was a bit of a joke-waiters didn't have a clue what was going on! but the food was good and everyone was really friendly. The bars were nice to sit at at night, the terrace bar was lovely- big bean bags and overlooking the sea. The only downside i would say about the hotel would be the drinks, i drink malibu and martini but at the hotel there was only beer, wine, gin and raki, so i went to the bar next door and bought a bottle of malibu off them.

The market was ace! loads of cheap clothes and bags- which i loved! you have to barter with them though, it's quite funny.

We went to the disco on the last night and wished we'd gone there sooner, it was really good. small room with loud dj but it was alright, lots of different ages in their.

would definitely go back to this hotel again, it was a great week.

Great Family Resort!!

"We stayed at the Armonia Resort at the end of August 2008, and had a great time!!!

The hotel rooms are great, and looks like a 'Boutique Style' rooms, with LCD and with great taste of the design. The hotel has a superb Blue Flag Private Beach!! (With free Ambrelas and beds of course..). There are 4 pools: 2 main pools, 1 Aqua Park pool and 1 small children pool. (level of the water in the main pools are 1.40 meter, and in the Aqua Park pool 1.20 meter).

There are shows every night in the open theatre, and the Kids club was great for our 2 doughters (ages 7 and 9 we visited the hotel August 2008).

Also in the club - 2 a-l-carte Resturants (Fish and Italian, besides the main resturants and the other bars). Food is o.k., but not 100% perfect. Overall the hotel is superb!!

Beautiful hotel, not very many...

"Beautiful hotel, not very many English, rooms are nice, could do with a better clean!!!! our shower constantly leaked, but lived with it. You don't have to rush at the crack of dawn for a sun bed, but be sure to be down by 8am. Food was lovely the first few days but gets a bit repeatative. Kids buffet consisted of chips and something in a sauce. Only two toilets on the complex, reception and pool, pool one was disgusiting.

Had 2 kids, one of 11 and one of 4, 11 year old had plently to do with the slides and pools, but my 4 year old didn't get on too well with Kids club as none of the kids spoke english and baby pool was small and very very cold, as were all the pools.

There is a breeze every day which was nice, but the pools never got warm. The floor around the pools were deadly, we saw numerous accidents where adults and kids were slipping over day and night, they clean the main walkways at 8pm and people were falling all over the place.

Hotel staff were lovely, especially the entertainment staff, they put on good shows and were all very friendly.

It is a very noisy place, don't expect to get a full nights sleep, there is a temple next to the hotel and they start to pray at 5am every day and 4 more times throughout the day. Other guests in the hotel (foreign) had no respect for anyone, and ran riot throughout the night, screaming and shouting and banging doors.

There is nowhere to walk to of an evening, only two shops outside the hotel, which are a lot cheaper than the hotel shop. Do not buy ice-creams, lollys, crisps, sun lotion in the hotel, get them from the shops outside or you will be ripped off.

It took nearly two hours to get to the hotel due to the coach driver not having a clue where he was going, so you can imagine how hot and bothered we were when we arrived. Our luggage was taken to the room, and the porter stood there and was not prepared to move until we tipped him, which we found quite rude.

We went on a lovely boat trip for the day stopping at different places around and about, but coming back was an experience I would never wish to happen again. The sea is quite rough and the boat was unable to drop us back to the hotel as it was not safe, so we had a rough ride to Turgetries which was about another hour on, and it was a white knuckle ride.

The market on a Saturday is great, loads of bargain, but be warned it is very very hot and busy, so go early in the morning. Taxi cost about 17 lira.

We made the most of our holiday but would not return to this hotel for the reasons stated above.

When reading this, if you have already booked, don't think you are going to an awful place, it is lovely, just lacking english and tooooo many rude foreign people.

My husband, 7 year old daughter and I...

"My husband, 7 year old daughter and I really enjoyed our week to the Armonia Holiday village & Spa. We were worried because we booked through the internet and had only a couple of reviews to go from.

The hotel has recently been refurbished and is very nice. Extremely clean and constantly being kept clean and tidy all around the hotel facilities. Our standard room was small but comfortable and adequate for our requirements (you do have an option to have a larger room).

The food was good and varied at the beginning but was becoming repetitive towards the end of our week. There was no ice cream for the kids only cakes and they were all laced with some kind of alcohol or sauce. We ate in the Italian Restaurant one night which is definitely recommended. Fish is not our thing so we didn’t venture into the fish restaurant!! The entertainment was OK but the residents were mostly eastern European which put my daughter off going to the kids club due to the language difficulties.

The swimming pool areas were lovely and we didn't have to fight for a sun bed in the morning. My only criticism about the pools is that at 1.40m deep, if your children could not swim it would obviously pose a problem. The slide pool was slightly shallower at 1.10m. Around the three pools the tiles are marble and it gets very slippy when wet. Flip flops are not ideal better with something that has tread or bare feet. The private beach was private but not exactly sandy more stoney with some sand thrown in. The jetty was lovely with sunbeds on.

The shops available are OK for those things that we all forget. A doctor’s surgery is on site too should you be unlucky enough to need it!

My husband used the gym every day and was really impressed by the new machines it had to offer.

Overall our holiday was great and I would recommend the Armonia Holiday Village and Spa to anyone.

After an eight hour journey we found...

"After an eight hour journey we found our welcome not very welcoming,We was put into a room that had been refurbished to a two star standard we changed straight away for another. We then asked for a new mini bar that worked, it took 2 days and still did not work, standard of the cleaning in rooms were a lot to be desired, staff in the restaurant need to smile more, We somtimes felt that we was in a cattle market and the rush for food from the Russians was just unbeliveable, also there are no food lableings to tell you what you are eating, It was supposed to be a 24 hour AI hotel and when we returned from a night out we asked for food and was told that there was not any, After complaining to the management they came out with what they called a sandwich which was a dry roll with cheese with wilted salad, very bad for a 5 star hotel, in the afternoon cakes came out at 5pm near the beach bar the stampede again from our friends was just greed again not enough to go around, The flooring around the pools which is poilished marble when wet was very very slippery we saw a few people slip over, Also for 3 days they tried to erect large parrasols every time putting them in the wrong place and drilling around the bar area while trying to relax, there are broken tiles on floor, The hotel has still got works going on at the moment it could be a really nice hotel they need some good management training and some staff the could speak English to, It is a shame as it could be a nice hotel but maybe it will one day once they get their act together, We returned home on the 27th june 08 ."

This hotel has been completely...

"This hotel has been completely refurbished for the 2008 season and we arrived two days after it re-opened. We were welcomed by the lovely Goksel, who managed to retain his good humour throughout our stay, despite everything.

The initial impression was that they had done a good job on the hotel. All the rooms have new balconies, although a few were not big enough to sit out on. Most balconies had two upright plastic chairs but there were no tables. Designers have been employed and the colour schemes are 'unusual', purple and hot pink in our room. The air-conditioning in our room was adequate plus there was a ceiling fan. The furniture and TV were new. The bathrooms have been re-fitted and ours looked great if you ignored the water stains on the ceiling. In our second week we had water from the cistern upstairs running down the wall but this was fixed the following day. There was usually hot water although it did run out on a couple of occasions.

The hotel has its own private beach with sunbeds, umbrellas and mattresses. It also provides beach towels, but these ran out during our stay. There are two large swimming pools fronting the beach plus a smaller pool with chutes. Despite all this, once the hotel filled up it was not always possible to find sunbeds. The beach is coarse sand and shingle. There was an animation programme running all day with a break for lunch and this was always accompanied by very loud music. Unfortunately this music could be heard at both pools and on the beach, there was no escape, and it was impossible to relax, have a quiet read or just listen to the sound of the waves lapping. Fine for those people who want non-stop activities and music, but no peace for anyone else. This spoiled the holiday for us somewhat.

The hotel is about three miles from Turgutreis but a frequent dolmus stops right outside. There are no facilities near to the hotel, although the area is built up with other hotels and villas. We found this a bit of a drawback in the evenings as there was nowhere to go outside the hotel unless we wanted to get on a bus.

There is evening entertainment in the hotel - a mini disco every night for the children and then fun and games with the entertainment team. I am sure they did their best but this was not to our taste. Given the size of the hotel and its five star rating we would have expected at least some professional entertainment. The entertainment was open air and very noisy at times. It could be heard in the rooms, but it usually finished around 11pm. After that there was a late night disco but this was indoors.

The dining room seats five hundred and was noisy and hot. There are a few air conditioning units, but nowhere near enough, plus ceiling fans and open windows. There is a small non-smoking section but the main area is smoking. There was always a large variety of food, typical Turkish fare. The food from the grill was always piping hot and freshly cooked. Other food was left out uncovered throughout meal times and we spotted flies on it. If you wanted a drink with your meal you had to queue at the bar. Ice was available with drinks but you had to ask for it specially. I quickly learned to ask for ice with white wine, as this is served at room temperature and very often in a hot glass straight from the dishwasher. I've had cooler mulled wine to be honest.

There are two 'a la carte' restaurants, Italian and fish. Guests are entitled to eat in each restaurant once during their stay. The only advantage is that it is much quieter and cooler, plus you are waited on. The fish restaurant was a set menu, no choice at all. The Italian had a choice of pizza or spaghetti with cheese sauce. This restaurant was quite unlike any Italian restaurant I have ever visited, in the UK or in Italy.

The staff were nice but rushed off their feet most of the time. Some nationalities do not understand the concept of queuing and the staff need to learn how to deal with that.

It is easy to get to Bodrum on the dolmus and we enjoyed wandering round the many shops and visiting the beautiful castle. We also went further afield by car, there is some spectacular mountain scenery and not much traffic once you get away from the coast. We went up the coast to Ephesus which is worth a visit and inland to the 'cotton castles' of Pamukalle. There are also coach trips to these places. It is possible to visit Kos by ferry boat from Bodrum.

"When we first arrived we was put in a room with 2 single beds in and there was 4 in our party and the reception staff wasn't very helpful.

The hotel didn't cater for English at all it was full of Russians and Germans. The food was very basic and the same to say it was all inclusive. It was rated a 5 star it is more like a 2 nearly 3.

The pool area was clean.

The restaurant staff was polite and kind and the entertainment staff was very good.
