not for brits nov 2010

"just back from benidorm centre hotel and i agree with other visitors it is more for the spanish as we only met two people who were english, i would not return again, the beds were as hard as a brick and my back is still sore, we went half board and there is a good varity off food but a bit under cooked for me,i would rate it more a 3 star not 4 and if you are unlucky enought to get a room overlooking the street there is no sun on the small balcony at all, swimming pool very small but beach just around corner, i have stayed self catering and had a nicer place but it is very clean on a positive note and the staff are very nice, its also beside all the nightlife, a 5min walk at most so if you want somewhere near everything this might suit you but you have been warned"

benidorm centre hotel

"just arrived home today, great hotel, great location, just 200mtrs from beach, short walk to the old town, buses are regular to the new town part.we are 2 couples in our 40s/50s. turn right out of hotel there is a english bar serves good breakfast if u miss hotel breakfast, its called neptunes bar. turn right again there is the travellers rest, had a few john smiths here, and lovely curry and rice. if u turn left out of hotel, 150 mtrs good indian restaurant.

Food at hotel, good choice, lovely salads, good choice of hot dishes but could of been hotter, but microwave was available.

hotel was spotlessly clean, good size rooms with large balconies, request a high floor with sea view room, you get sun all day then, but if u in the back unfortunely no sun. hair dryers are in rooms, u get good choice of english channels plus you can buy movies by the day.only down side was the beds were hard. but didnt spoil the holiday. would definetly use this hotel again.

Went to Benidorm at the end of...

"Went to Benidorm at the end of January, with 3 of our children, aged 6, 13 and 19. Had 2 rooms. Rooms were spacious, clean and tidy and towels were changed daily. Couldn’t find Benidorm Centre Hotel in any holiday brochures, so didn’t know what to expect. But when we got there it was awesome. The food was varied and tasty. The children enjoyed cooked breakfast everyday. We were hoping to go to the theme park but unfortunately it was closed and opened in the summer. Luckily the weather was hot and we were able to relax on the beach and go shopping. Would definitely go back! We went half board but would have been better to go full board because drinks were quite expensive. The evening entertainment was good but we were unable to sit through it because there were too many smokers."

"Hotel very clean, rooms very spacious. Views not fantastic from balcony and if not overlooking pool or sea then no sun on balcony. Pool area very nice, large area of pool for children and a small play area (slides and climbing frame) for the kids also. Waiting staff and bar staff very friendly. Dinning room set out nice food basic but nice. There was nightly entertainment but cannot comment if any good as never stayed in to watch it. Hotel wheelchair friendly, good location for bars, shops and restaurants. 2 minute walk from beach."

The hotel is centred perfectly for...

"The hotel is centred perfectly for the beach and shops. On the first night we found our room to be fine, balcony a bit small but the view was fantastic. I reported that our light on there didn't work to the reception. After a week of being there the light was never fixed, our sheets had never been changed along with the towels, on the 3rd day we had to request toilet paper as we had none and the cleaner never left us any. The meals were very basic, the hotel obviously catered for their Spanish guests, on one occasion we found the food wasn't cooked properly which left us dining out everyday afterwards.

The pools quite small, not at all what I would expect from a 4*. During our last couple of days we even received crank phone calls to our room from what I assume to be another Spanish guest.

We did find a fantastic English pub around the corner called Griffs, the food was amazing, the couple who owed it very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

I doubt I'd return to this hotel but I'll definitely be looking for that pub again!

Nice Holiday Shame About The Hotel

"We have just returned from two weeks at the Benidorm Centre and as an introduction to Benidorm it wasn't the greatest. Things started off well as they had prepared a cold buffet for our arrival as we got there late at night. However, our party, 15 of us, were then scattered throughout the higher floors despite our prior requests for the more child friendly and less worrying lower floors. Only after a couple of days & intense negotiation (we were on the brink of calling the UN) were we moved lower down.

The rooms themselves unless you get a corner room are small. The cleaning of the rooms was inadequate and sometimes if you had the balcony door open the wind would blow dust balls around the room. (ah the races we had)

The food is basic with the vegetables being boiled to within an inch of their lives and vegetarians watch out as it's salad and chips for you (as well as the aforementioned vegetable mush).

The pool is small and with only a few people becomes crowded and impossible to swim in, though the metal fence across the middle did make a handy volleyball net.

The entertainment is okay. The singer and keyboard player were fine but some of the acts following them were pretty dire, the greatest trick the magician performed would have to be when he removed his appearance fee from the hotel owner's wallet!

To be fair the location is great for the beach being only a 5 minute walk away, Benidorm market is only a 15-20 minute walk, you are close to shops and restaurants and some of the staff were nice.....but then you could say that about a lot of other hotels.

The last day will stick in our memory as we were literally thrown out of our rooms by the cleaners and their manager despite our protests and the fact that we had been told we could have the larger room for the day ( some of them even started grabbing our bags and personal possessions to put in the hallway). After yet more negotiation we were given one of the smaller rooms for 25 euros. The price didn't matter but the manner in which it was done did and could have spoilt our holiday.

Would I go to Benidorm again most definitely, would I stay at the Benidorm Centre

OK, but not recommended

"Myself and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for one week in May 2007. Last year, we stayed at the 4 star Maderia Centro (just down the road) and were expecting a similar standard. However, we were a bit disappointed.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and polite. The hotel lobby is clean but there is no seating area.

We arrived in our room to find twin beds, which I know is normal for many European hotels. However, from past experience they have been more on the small double size. These were definitely single! We asked at reception, and were told they only have 9 rooms with double beds, all of which were taken.

The bathroom was tiny, and there was no shower curtain, just a small screen. This did not stop water escaping and so after each shower the bathroom floor was totally soaked. The shower was always hot though and the pressure was good.

The balcony was a big disappointment, it was in dire need of a lick of paint. The view was horrible, just large apartment blocks obscured the view to the sea.

We didnt use the pool at all. It was tiny, there were no bar facilities, and was hardly picturesque. There was a really noisy British bar next to it , there wasnt any shubbery around, just concrete.

We went half board and the food was a big dissapointment. Breakfast was horrible, and at dinner there was very little choice. It was very repetitive,

We dont go for hotel entertainment anyway, but here it just seemed to consist of dance nights for elderly spanish couples. There was a hostess woman in skimpy outfits who wandered around the dining room from time to time.

The maid didnt come around until late, we often were out in the morning and returned at around 1pm to find it hadnt been cleaned. They didnt replace anything in the bathroom which had been used.

I had a few soft drinks out of the fridge, none of which were ever replaced.

On the plus side, the location is great. It is near the beach, near to the old town, and far enough away from the disgusting strip of English bars!! They also have a system whereby you buy a pre-paid card to pay for your drinks at dinner , and receive a discount, meaning drinks were cheap at the hotel. There is not a lot of choice though.

In summary, I would recommend that you pay a little more and stay at the Maderia Centro!

Do not go to this hotel if you want a pleasant place to stay and if comfort is important to you.

Stayed at the Benidorm Centre for 4...

"Stayed at the Benidorm Centre for 4 nights with my two teenagers in late march 2007.

The rooms are very nice and clean.

The food is very good and the service is very good.

Position of the hotel is ideal for what Benidorm has to offer, plenty of nightlife close by,

and is close to the beach

The pool area is a bit poor but other than that a very good hotel and well run and would stay at this hotel again.

We stopped at this hotel in February...

"We stopped at this hotel in February for a four day break. We took our seven year old son with us. The hotel was spotless and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The drinks in the mini bar in our room were very cheap and the meals were ok but found lunch and dinner choices to be virtually the same and we found ourselves only taking 2 meals in the hotel.

The hotel is in a central location, ideal for the nightlife and always someone on reception whatever time we got back. Overall a great hotel and would definitely go back.
