all entertainment in french

"Hi just came back from hotel Panoramic in Majorca, never again, all the entertainment ,daytime and nightime is done in French,so if you are Scottish,English,Irish or Welsh, unless you can speak fluent French then be warned do not go or you will be completely ignored.there is a least a 20 minute walk to the nearest you have been warned. And i was not advised about this by my travel agent"

Awful / Upsetting / Heart Breaking

"I arrived at the hotel about 10pm, we were offered food, of salad, salad it was wrapped in cling film under lighting. The rooms were clean but thats when the hell started. I used to go to this resort as a child over and over again, so I thought I would take my daughter for her 8th birthday, the following day we got up went for breakfast, no meeting with the rep or anything as promised. There were reps there but no English ones, the entertainment was all in french morning, noon and night. As soon as the reps found out we were English that was it didn't even attempt to speak with us, when asked if they could talk in English so we could join in we got no no French animation only. My little girl was trying to join in with the kids entertainment she was made to feel discluded. One evening she was trying to join in only to get "bye bye Englic" by the kids club reps. This broke my heart. There was nothing to do for English adults or the children, there was no English children there for her to play with. The Sat/Sunday night the reps were out until 3.45 in the morning by the pool we couldn't sleep. I went and complained to reception and he said he would speak with them, so I went and looked on the balcony and they saw mw and they were shouting "shhh shhh Englic". This was the final straw I rang the tour operator to be moved to a differet hotel. I would not reccomend this hotel to any English people the French reps were rude, the staff in the hotel were rude. It ruined my holiday and my little girls holiday as we were moved to the worse hotel with a lovely view of council flats. It has lovely views, and a fake sandy beach in which sand is brought in at 6am everyday, which also wakes you up. It has ants everywhere, they made you feel uncomfortable going to the bar as a h=guy called Pablo called us honkeys. While I was there there were 6 English people whom moved hotels and a further 9 English people whom complained. It ruined our holiday, the hotel is false advertising on here, the tour operator is complaining on our behalf but having to go out and find entertainment and spending more money when paid for all inclusive is bizzare. I would not reccomend to snyone."

Stayed here after reading some...

"Stayed here after reading some reviews of the hotel. My husband and I went with my 14 year old daughter. We didn’t get to the hotel till 11.30 at night so was tired and thought the room a little small with 3 small beds in it. But in the morning walking down into the reception area we felt very different, walking through the hotel to the gardens at the back of the hotel and seeing the view of our own little beach and the mountains in the background it was beautiful.

There were a lot of children there but my daughter went off and met loads of friends, two years on and she still speaks to them on line. The pool was ok and clean, entertainment the usual bingo then a show and the usual disco for the kids. Was very repetitive but then who cares we were on holiday.

The hotel very clean and rooms cleaned every day, the food was very good there was a choice for everyone, we loved the salad bar and the hot food and sweets were lovely. What we liked is that they did not cut back on alcoholic drinks being all inclusive. When you had dinner you could have a carafe of wine without any problems. The staff did speak very little English but I never found them rude, the hotel is quite strict when it comes to the pool closing at 7 - police called one night when two lads jumped in the pool on their last night, harmless fun we all laughed but staff didn’t like it.

The hotel is in the old part of Alcudia but then just a taxi ride away from the port.

Overall a lovely time there is a little bar called the Red Rum just round the corner of the hotel go there to see the sunset, you can see Puerto Pollensa light up at night also their cocktails are enormous very potent and good price.

First time used

"First time used holidays and will use again.

First visit to Mallorca and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Stayed at hotel AI again first time we had done this and was impressed. Food always fresh with wide choice from international buffet menu. Room size was good, did have few ants in bathroom but not a major problem.

Good sized swimming pool and beach on doorstep. Very quiet area which suited us. Only 10-15 minutes’ walk to old town, markets held Sunday and Tuesday. You can get local bus outside Hotel to old town and also Alcudia Port. From old town you can then catch other local buses around the island, lot cheaper than the excursions.

On Thursday we went to Inca Market, coach tour price 18 euro's each for half day excursion, we did it on local bus for 5.50 euro's each. Inca Bus station situated along side Railway station, with very large market opposite, we spent 3 hours looking around and still did not see it all. On other side of railway station is leather factory where you can buy cheap leather goods.

We did pay out for island trip with an excursion company booked through the hotel which I would recommend - 49 - Euros each coach drive to Palma where we caught old electric train up to Soller, coach down to Soller Port then catamaran to La Calobra to see the gorge. Had about 2 hours here to walk through tunnel cut in cliff/mountain to the gorge, take your swimming costume the sea gorgeous turquoise colour and very inviting there are a few cafes and gift shops in the small bay.

The coach then takes you up and over the mountains with some great views, but also quite scary going round hair pin bends. We were then taken to the leather factory in Inca before taking us back to our hotels.

Will revisit Hotel again when we want a good restful holiday.

Good holiday if you want to stay...

"Good holiday if you want to stay round the pool and catch the sun or go for a walk around the beach, which is on the hotel grounds practically. Dining waitresses were very nice but the bar staff were just wanting to get home, I think they never spoke much English and wouldn’t stop what they were doing if you walked to the bar wanting to be served.

The rooms were nice and they did have air con and it done its job and the cleaners done a good job too. Overall I wouldn’t go there again because it is in the middle of nowhere and no night life but if you are a couple wanting to relax then that is the place for you :)

p.s you must visit the Red Rum pub 2 mins away.

"This was our 4th visit to the Panoramic and yet again it didn’t let us down. Kids loved it as usual.

Very relaxing time while kids were in pool or playing games with entertainers. Beach on doorstep which is a bonus as well.

Food excellent as always. We did eat out once just for a change at the Red Rum bar which I would also say you should try, the pizzas there are superb and only 5-7 Euros.

Yet again we had the best time ever and is a must for anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing holiday.

We have been to the Hotel Panoramic...

"We have been to the Hotel Panoramic many, many times and continue to return. We are going again in 6 days time.

The hotel is set in a fairly remote part of Old Alcudia and it is about a 5 min walk to the old town and a 30 min walk to the tourist area. This is the main reason we like the hotel so much.

It is a beautiful, clean and quiet hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is excellent and the staff are helpful, friendly and polite.

There is very little entertainment within the hotel but that suits us as we prefer to read or sit and watch the world go by.

If you have young children or are elderly then it is unlikely that the Hotel Panoramic is for you. Unless you are used to walking (usually on the road) you will have to take taxi's everywhere to get anywhere.

We do hire a car and see the sights but the main reason we return to the same hotel is for the peace and tranquility, particularly at night as there are no screaming teenagers or younger people spilling out of a night club.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to get away from it all.

Cannot believe some of the other...

"Cannot believe some of the other review comments. We found this a very relaxing holiday, quiet and restful. We saw no sign of any lager louts or rats.

The hotel was spotless and the food good and varied. Not the place if you are looking for a busy nightlife, but the pub on the beach - The Red Rum was very welcoming and we spent many a pleasant evening there watching the sun set over the sea. Ideal if you like an away from it all holiday.

Alcudia old town is within walking distance and Alcudia itself is a short taxi ride away. No complaints from us!

We decided to risk an All Inclusive...

"We decided to risk an All Inclusive deal in Mallorca despite the horror stories we had heard about AI in Europe. Our only other experience of AI was in Cuba several years ago and that was absolutely fantastic.

The Panoramic Hotel Entrance

exception error looks very nice and clean and quite sophisticated. We were dealt with quickly on arrival and given our AI bands (disgusting colour - looked like hospital bands).

We got to the room and unpacked. Rooms are basic but clean. We had a view to the side of the hotel, not the bay. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but you can hire a fan from reception for 18Euros a week, with an additional 10Euro refundable deposit. There was a safety deposit box in the room, but again, you had to pay 22 Euros a week for this, plus a 10Euro refundable deposit. So within 1 hour of arriving, I had already dented my holiday spends to the tune of 50Euros Some other points on the rooms, TV Channels were virtually all German - what does that tell you! We had some ants in the bathroom, but not many and it didn’t become a problem. The Bathroom was very small but everything worked. The maids cleaned the rooms every day and changed towels when asked (you have to put them in the bath tub to indicate you want new ones). Patio was small with no light for the evenings. Plenty of clothes hangers in the wardrobe. No fridges in the room.

There are three floors of rooms and we were on the top. There are two lifts in the centre of the hotel, each holding about 4 people (if you all breathe in at the same time). Night times are quiet after Midnight and we all slept really well all week.

The restaurant is 100% buffet style. The food can be a little repetitive but to their credit it was always fresh, they would be continually replenishing each dish and removing stuff that had been out too long. We heard no problems of anyone being ill due to the food. The waiting staff in the restaurant are very friendly. Typical offerings:

Breakfast:- sausages (different types everyday, English, German, frankfurters, chorizo etc), fried eggs, scrambled eggs, Spanish omelette, fried bread, fried tomatoes, sometimes mushrooms, cereals, prunes, yoghurts. Toast, bread rolls, coffee, juices, water.

Lunch Dinner:- Slices of Veal in Gravy, Hake, Pizza (not very good), plain pasta with Tomato sauce, soup of the day (a bit watery), chips (always chips), beef burgers, frankfurters, a meat stew (different meats), fried chicken goujons (very good but only had one day out of 7). Pasta salads, fresh salad items. Good range of deserts, mostly angel delight looking stuff, little sponge cakes, crème caramel, little ice cream tubs, fresh fruit - unpeeled.

For Dinner you could have carafes of House Wine, White, Rose or Red or Bottled water. These were not limited in the restaurant.

We were told there would be snacks available between meals and there were. However, the main Bar has snack menu up showing the usual stuff, hot dogs, burgers baguettes and this is what we thought were the snacks. Turned out that you have to pay extra for those and the AI snacks are in a corner of the restaurant only accessible via the pool terrace. The snacks on offer was leftovers from Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, kept warm under a warming unit. I would not recommend eating this - eat in the restaurant when it is fresh.

The Bar is a strange place, not really a place to sit in, more a place to just visit to get drinks, it is split into two, one side like a holiday camp lounge, but nobody serves at the bar in that side. The other side, where they do serve is much lighter and has glass windows all around. They normally only had one member of staff serving here so there was nearly always a queue for AI drinks. They also do not provide bottled water on AI basis (even though they have it and will sell it to you for 1.5 Euro per bottle per very small bottle). The bar staff were all very miserable and rude. The beer on offer is draught San Miguel (no complaints here) but all the other alcoholic drinks are non branded and became quiet tiresome after a week. The soft drinks were Coke, Coke Lite and Fanta Limon and Orange. Water in plastic ups was available on AI. AI times are 9am to 12pm. After 12pm dead, they will charge you for any drinks, other than a glass of water. There is an ice cream fridge in the bar with all the kids favourites, however these are chargeable and the free ice cream is in small pots in the snack area of the restaurant.

The swimming pool is clean and well kept, albeit not very usable. It is a good size but most of it too deep to stand up in. I like to muck around in the pool on holiday not actually swim and it is only good for swimming. The Kids pool is very small. Sunbeds are a premium around the pool and unless you get up between 6-7am and put your towel on one, you are unlikely to get one. Don’t get up at 5am as the hotel doors to the pool are locked! You cannot use the pool before 9am or after 7pm. There are far too many table and chairs around the pool which are just not used and could make way for a plentiful supply of sun beds. They also play music all day around the pool through a very impressive Bose sound system. The volume varied but never drive you away from the pool area. They mixed the nationality of the music on different days and in general it was good middle of the road stuff.

There is a table tennis table on the pool terrace and you can borrow the equipment for a small deposit. There are also two pool tables (not very good condition) which you have to pay 1.5 euros per game for. The organised Activities were either non-existent or just kept very secret! There is a Tennis court beside the hotel which I believe you can hire the equipment for also.

Do not go to this Hotel if you expect to have laid on Entertainment. What there was, was often not on time and very amateur. It also only lasted for about 1.5 hours a night.

The beach by the hotel, is literally on it's doorstep and is a good size. The sand on the beach itself is relatively clean and golden. Underfoot as you enter the sea there is a lot of seaweed and a little further out, there is a mass of rubbish, some dangerous, cans, metal pipes, bricks etc.

There is not much nearby the hotel, a small supermarket, 10 mins walk, a British pub, the Red Rum - 5 mins walk. We went to the Red Rum on the night we arrived as there was no food available that late. They serve good food in the pub, at reasonable prices and quite late. The staff in here were very friendly.

A 15 minute walk gets you to the old town (some bits of the road there have no pavement). This is well worth a visit on Sunday and Tuesday mornings for the market, which is massive. It sells mostly handbags, jewellery, fake watches and clothes etc. There are many other stalls but this is mainly it. Try the Mallorcan doughnuts - delicious. You must barter to save being ripped off. It is also well worth a visit to just see the old walls and architecture. It is much bigger than I had imagined from reading other people’s reviews. We ventured in one night to have a meal in the old town and the atmosphere was wonderful. There is no nightlife here for the youngsters though, it is very grown up affair.

The Port of Alcudia is a lovely place for a visit, day or night. it has the Marina with some spectacular boats to look at. The sea front has a very wide promenade and is lined with nice restaurants and gift shops. There are also the Duty Free style shops here selling alcohol and cigarettes and the usual holiday tat and very cheap prices. Be careful, some of them advertise the prices in GBP and we were almost duped into thinking that these were the EURO prices.

The New town of Alcudia, which is the most popular area with all the big hotels (also known as the strip) is what you would expect from this type of resort. Full of British Holiday makers and crammed to the rafters with holiday restaurants and shops. This is ok for a visit but for me personally, was a little too like Blackpool.

Taxis to and from the hotel were in constant supply. The Hotel will call one for you at no extra cost. They are always white in colour and they seem to be very new an clean. They are reliable and cheap. We paid no more than 7 Euros to go anywhere in Alcudia.

The Hotel Panoramic has a few niggles but on the whole was a good place to spend a week. The food is not exciting but is fresh and well presented. The drinks are local but in plentiful supply. It was a very relaxing holiday. If you like the idea of having a quiet, well kept base to visit some of the close by areas then this is for you.

You have to check out by 12pm on the day of your departure and we were all wondering whether we would have to pay for lunch as we did not depart for the airport until 4pm. Well, when we handed our room keys in, they did not ask for AI bracelets back so we were able to have our last lunch as part of the AI deal.

Fantastic hotel, good value for...

"Fantastic hotel, good value for money, bit in the middle of nowhere but taxi very cheap to get to centre of town.

Media Travel's transfers, however, were appalling - overpriced and the first transfer from airport to hotel never turned up to collect us, and the one on the way home drove at 170 km per hour (105mph) and fell asleep numerous times whilst driving! But lovely accommodation.

"This hotel is just outside Alcudia 2 kilometres, no bus service. Very basic hotel no soundproofing, air vent from Lounge to roof, smell of cigarette smoke passing through rooms disgusting.

Staff English speakers just shrugged their shoulders. Like a free for all at the buffet meals food no choice same stuff every day, very steep stairs to dining room, not for kids or infirm people, lots of people wearing football shirts, English and Scottish.

Swimming pool across street, problems with local youths, no entertainment. We saw rats scurrying about at night to/from kitchen, wouldn’t take my worst enemy to this dump, tiny beach long and stony sea about 15 feet from road.

We went to this hotel on the...

"We went to this hotel on the impression that it was going to be a fun filled packed holiday, nothing of the sort.

We were disappointed by the so called entertainment we have 2 small children they got bored very easily, all the couples we met with children thought the same.

This resort we was told was not far from the town, we had to order a taxi whenever we wanted to go into the town, the rooms were ok but no air con which in high season was very hot we had to pay for a fan for all our holiday. The people that worked there were all ok apart from the head barman (never got a smile of him). The waiters were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for them.

I would not return to this hotel again on the thought of being hot in our room at night and the entertainment we paid over £2000 for what we call a waste of money.
