The Best Hotel By Far

"WE read some dodgy reviews about the Hotel Club Cala Marsal and were glad we ignored them. The Hotel was wonderful:

- Very Clean (maids were lovely)

- Very Friendly (all staff including restaurant, reception, cleaning staff, security and of course kid's staff)

- Very Good Food

- Very Good facilities

- Very Goos links

It was great. We stayed with a 2 year-old, had 3 days of thunder and lightning (sun for other 11) and we still didn't get bored. There are buses to Palma and all other places from the bottom of the drive, the beach is a mere 3-5 minute walk, and you are well catered for by bars, shops and restuarants. There's even an eroski supermarket within 15 mins walk too. I cannot emphasise how nice the staff were, the other guests were great too, mostly French and German (which we prefer than a hotel full of brits), other than one or two overly serious French women-it was great!!! My daughter had something to eat every night and Loooovvvveeedddd the mini-disco people (who spoke fluent English/German/French/Spanish. They also added nice touches of great service - which I won't mention here as you'll get jealous if you don't get them!

We've been to Majorca many times before (even stayed 200 yards away from this hotel - and never knew it was there) and we will definiately return. I cannot understand where the people who have complained are coming from. Plus saying a few Spanish words is hardly a hardship. All I can say is that my mother and father-in-law didn't speak any Spanish to the staff and they were treated like royalty.

A great place for a great holiday.

Nice hotel in a great location for a quiet beach holiday.

"We booked this hotel as a cheap holiday for a week in the sun, for the price we paid (which was £340 including flights and transfers) it was good value for money. The hotel has a great location with easy access to a really nice beach (but beware of the beach attendant who looks after the beds and parasols, he is a nasty nutter) and a few bars and shops around. The rooms are clean and tidy with enough space and a balcony with a sea view on the even numbered rooms. The food is basic but is edible. The hotel has a varied customer base, we met French, Russian, Spanish and Germans but all seemed to be catered for. It's not 5 or even 4 star but is a good 3 star at a reasonable price."

Good place for a relaxing peaceful holiday

"This hotel is situated right next to a lovely beach with a small selection of bars/shops and is a 10 - 15 minute walk away from the small town of Porto Colom. Here there are a number of bars dotted along the marina plus some situated around a purpose built square where live open air entertainment was provided around the weekend. We did spot one nightclub for the young at heart!

Generally the hotel was quite good although we felt it was more like a 3* than a 4*.(No hairdryer/Mini Bar/thin towels/hard beds). All rooms appeared to have some kind of view of either the sea or the mountains. The standard of cleanliness was good, mainly catering for couples and families with the majority of guests being French, Spanish and German. Nice bar with outdoor area plus pool bar serving snacks and large entertainment room with mainly 'in house' produced evening shows. Large restaurant, buffet style with very polite staff clearing the tables speedily. The food was not the best we have encountered but eatable, the two words I would use to describe would be 'cafeteria' and 'processed' but by the end of the week we had got a handle on what we liked and disliked.

We had a very relaxing week. Our European neighbours have a more civilized approach to holidaymaking which gave the hotel a more gentile and polite feel. If I had one complaint it would have been the noise of the air conditioning unit situated by the rear swimming pool which invaded the otherwise tranquil setting.

Good value for money, good location, food ok

"Just got back from 4 nights stay in Porto Colom. Weather was great with hot 30 degree day's. First impressions of the hotel are great. Its location is ideal as it sit's right in front of the local beach (which is very nice). The lobby of the hotel is nice and very welcoming.

I was slightly disappointed with the room's. They are very basic and dull. The rooms dont even have a fridge, pillows and bed were both hard. But dont get me wrong it wasnt a major issue for us but I could see it been one for other people looking for a more luxurious holiday. The pool area was great but for some reason the pool bar shut at 3:00pm. We had half board, this got us dinner as breakfast was already included. Food at breakfast was breakfast, not bad. Dinner was basic but still not bad.

The area itself is very nice. If your looking for a holiday area that has a load of bars dont stay here as they are only a handful. We went for a night out in the nearby town of cala d'or which was good. Return taxi round 30 euro.

There are some very nice restraunts on the porto colom harbour.

Lovely Peaceful Location, Good Hotel, Rubbish Food

"The area around the hotel is great - the hotel is situated on one of the nicest coves in that part of the island, and there are enough small bars and restaurants for most people to be happy for a week or two. There's also more nightlife within Porto colom itself, within about 15-20 minutes walk.

The hotel itself was fairly smart - lovely reception areas which had recently been refurbished. The pool areas were also good, with multiple pools and enough sun beds and space available even when busy. Both areas were also meticulously clean. The rooms were again good - nice and large and comfortable, but fairly functional - nothing great.

The major downside for us, was the food. We stayed half board but ended up eating out half the nights because the food was so bland. As other reviewers have commented, the food was very processed and tended to be frozen - there was little variation on food from day to day, and much of what you put on your plate you ended up leaving because it was so unappetising!

Great location, hotel could use some improvements

"We were there for 1week at the end of may.

We had a full board and beverages treatment.

Room very wide, nice and room service perfect.

Really unprofessional the request for a 3 euros per day or 10 euros per night of surcharge in order to borrow a hairdryer from the reception! I would have understood a deposit to cover damages of the hairdryer but not this way of making money on the hotel's own lack of amenities.

Hotel bar far too expensive, but luckily there are a few very nice and decent places just outside the hotel.

Food quality a bit low: all frozen items, rarely fresh fish although we were at the seaside and the hotel was not fully occupied.

Nice hotel

"This is a really good 3 star hotel. The grounds are spacious and there are always beds by the pool (there are fewer sunshades but there seemed to be plenty of natural shade from the trees so not really a problem). There are two pool areas - one is a three tiered pool with deep, medium and shallow pools for the little ones. The other pool seemed to be kid free. The reception area and toilets look newly decorated and are modern and clean. We had a very big family room with a HUGE balcony with beautiful views over the beach and pool. Our room even had a walk in wardrobe which was a big bonus with a family of four in one room (no suitcases etc cluttering the floor space). We stayed half board - the food was ok, bit hit and miss really. Enjoyed the breakfast but beans were always cold (sorry - typical brit!), and evening meals were a bit basic but always masses of nice fruit and decent puddings. Cala Marcal and Porto Colom were lovely - although the beach (Cala Marcal) is quite far from the lovely harbour of Porto Colom). We had a car for the week which I recommend as Majorca is really pretty and there are masses of wonderful little coves 15 mins drive away (although the beach on the hotel doorstep is lovely and clean and kid friendly). Only downside of this hotel was the housekeeping. Our room was given a daily once over but it was not as clean as I would have liked (and I don't usually care at all about these things), ie first day - masses of hair all over the floor and behind the curtains the floor was filthy (as my one year old found out). The pull out bed was never really made - just pushed back. The This was a minor thing which most people won't really care about and it did not at all affect our enjoyment of the hotel or our holiday. Would go back."

Me and my mum stayed here for 11days....

"Me and my mum stayed here for 11days. When we arrived we were dropped off at the bottom and didn’t have a clue what we were doing.

The hotel is stunning, lovely pools, lots of room, very clean. Nice food as well.

Entertainment team were great.

I’m a teenager and because the resort is quiet there wasn’t much for me to do in the day time apart from eat and sunbathe. Most people who stay here are from many different countries, and there are not alot of English, so I found it hard to talk to people!

The nightlife was great because we found the Beez Neez bar up the hill. It was great; sky TV, cheap deals on drinks, great bar staff Chris and Jamie, and met some great people there.

Nice beach and nice all night festival on it. Nice restaurants and a good little Spar.

Amazing Weather. Overall an enjoyable holiday, and well worth the money, I would highly recommend this hotel!

super hotel

"Super hotel- 11/10 food, entertainment and entertainment team, kids clubs, pools, activities, and rooms-my husband and i had a particularly good room no.602 with massive balcony and windows looking over main pool and beach-fantastic views.

Hotel clientel are mainly not british but personally i think this is a plus!

As the resort is tiny it is not geared for an 18-30 type holiday but for older couples and families with kids-perfect.

You actually would not need to leave the hotel unless going to the beach.

3 recommendations i would make and did to the hotel are...and are very minor.....they have loads of sunbeds around the pools but need more on site shop would be good...and definatly another toaster in operation in the dining hall at breakfast time!

My husband and i will definatly return to this hotel but next time bring our daughters.

This hotel caters for Germans before...

"This hotel caters for Germans before British; all activities are in German and no attempt to communicate in English is made by any staff members.

We were half board for 1 week and the food was not nice at all, for breakfast there were burgers! Evening meal did not include a drink of even water.

Porto Colm itself is more for the elderly. 3 or 4 restaurants and pubs, no night life at all. We hired a car and enjoyed the holiday as we stayed out most days Cala D’or and Alcudia a must see.

"Me and my Mum stayed here end of july beginging of august for 11days, when we arrived we wasnt dropped off at the hotel so we was quite anoyed with that!

The pools are great and the food was nice, and the rooms was nice too, very clean hotel!

We was really impressed with the hotel, nice entertainment staff and stuff! But we got out at the nights up the hill to an English bar!

I recomend this bar if you are english, the hotel gets quite a handfull, the bar is called The Beez Neez!

I found it quite boring because there isnt much around and the hotel is full of foreigners, so i had no1 to talk to really, so thats why its good to explore, theres a nice harbour a while up the road, the beach is nice, and we was lucky to be there when the beach festival was on!

Overall a great holiday, great hotel, nice weather, quite resort, only downfall not many people to suit me!

good hotel

"Stayed for a week a few years ago, We had a party of two disabled with us. We had requested ground floor, but didn"t get it. However they do have two lifts that we could all get in. The hotel has around eight levels,it is possible to see the beach from the front rooms, the beach is across the road from the hotel. The beach is not large,if you like larger beaches then you need to travel to different resorts.

The hotel has activity programme during day and night. They have a nightly disco(glad we didn"t get ground floor rooms. The food is buffet style menu good variety of dishes.Hotel staff friendly. The hotel had three tier swimming pool, not heated. Good hotel for relaxing.A few shops and restaraunts near to beach area, and more within walking distance along beach road up and over the hill. Recommend hiring a car to see rest of island,Ther are a few car hire places near to hotel.Have not seen this hotel advertised in any holiday brochures since, but would like to go again, you can book via there own website.
