very very hot

"there were 5 of us we thought the apartment was a bit cramped, and we were there during the hottest time temp were at 39 for a few days so our apartment began to feel like an oven, you could take a shower and the min you dried yourself you were dripping with sweat, sleeping was an nightmare, none of the rooms had air condition, we had to end up buying a fan, it got to the stage that it was cooler outsde than it was in the room , otherwise the appartments were ok the staff were pleasent, all they need is a good air conditioning system"

pain in the bum

"The apartment its self was clean and very comfortable. However myself, my husband and two children the youngest being 18 months were placed on the top floor (4th) on the outside of the building that faced the nightclub. There were regularly 2-3 hundred teenagers outside the nightclub until 4am. I cannot understand there being a nigtclub situated around several hotels. The police were seen driving past and were not concerned about this at all. The resort of Calella seems to have become a teenage hotspot and as such is no longer family orientated.

The Safari resteraunt underneath the appartments charged me 10 euros (about 10 pound) for a whole cooked chicken to takeaway. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment and resort unless you are aged 16 -20.

"I'm only 16 and Calella was the perfect holiday for me and my bestfriend, We will defanately be returning to Calella next year, June 2009. I can't fault anything in Safari, it was very clean and the staff were very friendly, welcoming and funny! Very complimentry too! It was situated near many bars, shops, restauraunts, shops, Clubs.. The best nightclub was directly across from the appartments (Kauai), may be a problem to afew people as it may keep them awake to all hours. The doormen of many of the clubs allowed my friend and I in free of charge, and the barmen gave us free drinks.. I guess we're just very likeable?! We met loads of spanish people and we'l look forward to seeing them again next year :D Transport was easy and satisfying, trips we're cheap and well worth doing!.. The shopmen we're also very friendly.. The sand on the beach wasn't sticky :P The whole holiday was perfect. ;)

Thank you Safari,

Thank you Calella,

See you soon <3 xo

"there were six of us this year and we all loved the apartments and will be returning next year if not sooner, they were really clean and comfortable ,we stayed on the first floor with a balcony which we sat on in between visiting all of calellas bars especially the beachboys club brian the owner was brill as always ive known him for at least 20 years from the b.b.c in lloret de mar when i was just 10 years old now i take my kids and there boyfriends lee and vince whom was there first time and are already looking at going back there next year also .

also try the gran cafe opposite who do a loverly bottle of ice cold estrella 2 for the price of 1 between 8 and 10 well worth a visit thats where i found lee and katie my daughter every night without fail.

the steak house under the apartments does the biggest and thickest steak in town just melts in the gob

i recommend this place to anyone unless you are boring and picky like some of the comments ive read

Im not long back from a 2 week break...

"Im not long back from a 2 week break with my Mum and son, we did enjoy our holiday but to be honest i wont be back to callela, The beach was clean but the sand hurt my feet and the sea was very deep as soon as you stepped in to it. There was nothing to do anywhere at night unless you only want to drink and watch football which is not my idea of fun. The locals were very friendly but the prices for everything were alot more expensive than any holiday ive ever been on it was 1.95 for a litre of milk!!!!! We did take the train to Barcelona on a few occasions and for all the horror stories you hear we had no problems, and it was a lot cheaper than your holiday rep will charge, we were 6.60 return per adult and it takes approx an hour,(our reps were looking for about 22 eur per adult for the shopping day which is a bus journey). We went to marineland which if you are there with younger kids is a fantastic day they have a bird show, dolphin show and sea lion show plus its a water park with a few large areas with small chutes for younger kids as well as some bigger rides for the older kids that was a really great day.The Safari appartments were basic but clean i have no complaints there, although when the nightclub accross the road was open the noise was awful. The reception staff were fantastic really friendly and helpfull. All in all as I said a good holiday but I wont be back"

We stayed in the Safari Aparthotel....

"We stayed in the Safari Aparthotel. The hotel/restaurant/bar staff where wonderful, however the 1 bedroomed apartment was in actual fact a studio, there is a night club directly opposite keeping me awake until 4am on two occasions and until 2am on another 2 occasions, the first floor front are the only rooms with balconies so as a consequence every morning the balcony was covered in cigarette ash and clothes and anything else anyone decided to throw out of the window.

Calella is definitely for people who like to be completely independent as their is NO entertainment unless you enjoy Sky sport, eating and drinking. Although the beach is shingles, it has a lovely aspect (when not thundery). The supermarkets are for tourists so ask someone for the nearest Spanish supermarket where all the local people shop. They are cheaper and better supplied.

Eating out prices vary considerably so ALWAYS read the menu and price list before entering. Gringo Joes and Malibu are the good 'English' places to eat Malibu having a terrific English breakfast. Safari Pizzaria and Steak House do the BEST T-Bone steak EVER... and the price is reasonable.

There is a little 'road train' which travels around the resort at a nominal charge, but is a good way to familiarise yourself with the resort, which is quite a pretty little place.

Before booking any excursions make sure they are not on any national holiday, we booked a trip to Barcelona, only to discover the evening before by the hotel receptionist that it was actually a National Spanish holiday, and everything would be closed, well all the main shops etc were... so needless to say we were less than impressed. Having said that Barcelona is a beautiful City and a place I will be visiting again, the fountains are something that cannot be captured on any video or in any book, they must be viewed personally, I was lucky enough to be there when they 'danced' to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe singing Barcelona... wonderful.

"These apartments were a disgrace.

The beds were ripped, the cooker was dirty and so was the bedding, not to mention there was no bedroom door.

This was the worst holiday we have ever had and I have been on many Spanish holidays.

If you would like a nice quite apartment don’t stay at the Safari because the clubs don’t finish until 3 and 4 in the morning, the noise was unbearable.

The food was not fit for consumption, not forgetting expensive.

We will never go again and advise you not to either!

"The Safari Apartments are very clean and just the right size for a family of two to three people.

Just round the corner there is two supermarkets and a great selection of bars, clubs and restaurants which are really cheap to buy a meal and they are beautiful.

The staff that are there were very friendly and helpful.

The apartments are also very quite at night which you want, the local markets are also on hand offering a brilliant selection of holiday bargains but as usual, some may differ in price so shop around and some bars and clubs offer happy hour - two drinks for the one with karaoke some nights.

I have just returned and the flight crew were brilliant the meals on board were good.

I had a wonderful time and would love to go back I strongly recommend it.

"These apartments were basic, but clean and the staff were very friendly, the area they are in is very nice, a few good bars scattered around, we went early in the season so not very noisy, staff were very friendly and helpful.

The only downfall was that we never had a verandah, but all in all very good value for money.

The main town is just a short walk away with loads of shops, also there is a market there, ask at reception when you get there for the days and bus timetables they have them all. The beach is not far, just under the subway, a very beautiful beach.

"Basic apartments very close to the and shops. At night there is not much chance of a good nights sleep as the apartments are in the middle of the centre and lots of traffic and tourists like to make as much noise as possible which lasts until at least 5am which is not much fun unless you are the ones making the noise.

The pool is very small with not much room to sunbathe but the beach is handy. Some of the staff were friendly but not all of them. The local restaurants are fab with lots of authentic styles as well as English food.

There is not much to do but sunbathe shop and eat but you can get the bus to Barcelona across the road which is a must as the city is amazing. All in all I had a fab holiday and really enjoyed Costa Brava.

"The holiday was brill. The room was clean and so suitable for the type of holiday we went on!

The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and would definitely recommend them any day!

The best bar in Calella is Beach Boys! Brian and all the staff were fantastic and made myself and my mate very welcome didn’t want to come home! If you like a laugh and a dance or even sing then go there you will never stop laughing! Well done Brian and will definitely see you soon! Xxxxxxx

"Went to this apartment block at the end of August 2005, Calella itself is a lively, very English town, with a very beautiful beach, and friendly locals.

Safari apartments itself was totally opposite, except for the pool bar, "Janes bar" they were a disgrace, bedding had holes in, filthy dirty floors, cooker unusable, toaster dirty, and the problems go on and on and on...... would certainly not recommend safari apartments.
