Wales is a country in the south-west of the United Kingdom and borders England to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
Many visitors to Wales come to enjoy its rich cultural history. There are numerous Castles spread around Wales including Caerphilly Castle and Caernarfon Castle. Wales is also home to a Roman legion fortress in the village of Caerleon, which is where you will find the National Roman Legion Museum. Outdoor activities and adventure holidays are what Wales does best. With the National Parks of Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast covering nearly 20% of the Welsh landscape there are an array of open air pursuits on offer including, hiking, canoeing, climbing, caving, mountain biking, surfing and coasteering, to name but a few. The capital city of Cardiff has played host to many sporting events including the 1999 Rugby World Cup at the Millennium Stadium and the Wales Rally GB. This is also where Cardiff Castle is located which is a popular attraction for visitors.
The Welsh climate is quite close in character to that of England but with a tendency to be slightly wetter. The months of June to August are when the best weather occurs but as this also coincides with the UK school holiday times many of the popular tourist areas can become very busy.
