The Marine Hotel celebrated its centenary in 1997 and in early 2003 completed a £6 million refurbishment programme. The hotel is in a prime location, overlooking Royal Troon Golf Course and out to sea the Isle of Arran. Piersland Lodge was built in 1899 by the renowned Scottish architect, William Leiper, as the home for Sir Alexander Walker, founder of the Scotch whisky firm. Now a grade A listed building, all original features remain including wood panelling, stone fireplaces, wood carvings and a Jacobean embroidery frieze by the tapestry to King George V. The hotel is set in an acre of beautifully landscaped Gardens including an oriental garden.
