Thassos Holidays

Thassos is the most northern of the Greek Islands situated in the North Aegean Sea. It has retained much of its traditional look and culture by shunning the large resort developments that have taken place on many of the other Greek islands. This has made it suitable for holidaymakers looking for quiet relaxation.

For those in search of historical sites Thassos has many archaeological places of interest and the added advantage of being close to the Greek mainland affording day trips to many other sites throughout Northern Greece.

As the island does not have its own airport most flights will land on the Greek mainland at either Chrissoupoli (Kavala) or Thessaloniki. From there it is then a short 7 mile journey by road to the ferry port and then a 40 minute ferry ride to Thassos town, also known as Limenas.

Sheltered by mainland Greece, Thassos does not suffer from the strong Mediterranean winds that can affect the other Greek islands. Alternatively, this can also mean that when the temperatures begin to rise in the summer months there is little relief in the way of a cool breeze.
