Holiday Watchdog: Tampere Reviews

Tampere is small enough to explore on foot and yet has the feel of a city with a lively cultural and business life. Even so, nature is nearby everywhere in the city: you can catch a trout in the rapids just 30 metres away from the main street and find a great swimming beach just a little further away. In summer, thousands of passengers enjoy cruises passing through idyllic lakeland scenery. In winter, skaters, skiers and ice-fishermen occupy the frozen lakes, while sauna-bathers take a dip in holes bored through the ice.
Tampere is at the northernmost point of the triangle formed by Finland´s three major cities, the other two being Helsinki and Turku. It’s also easily accessible, less than two hours by train or by car from both coastal cities and even more conveniently accessible by air, thanks to Tampere´s excellent flight connections. | Holiday Reviews > European Cities > Finland > Tampere Holiday
