- There is no beach in Siracusa! Do not plan a beach holiday there. Usenko
- go to Vendicara nature reserve -- just beautiful, great for bird watching, with a wonderful beach too (but take a picnic!) BettyBlueCat
- go to food market & ampitheatre park. A walk right around island is beautiful at dusk & have a wine & gluten free pizza in cafe opposite cathedral Polly100
- go to Ortigia. Lots of little germs to be found in the restaurant department. Be aware of parking attendents, all scam! EdeOntheroad
- check out the De Simone ceramics store; do some shopping (the artisan shops here have higher quality and lower prices than elsewhere in Sicily). lkp466
- visit the local market on ortigia. avoid the tourist trap restaurants on lungomare. idratherbeinitaly
- Superb out of season location, and even in November a good chance of warm weather. It was 20 degrees during my trip. DXexplorer
- Make sure you see the Necropolis (and buy the ticket before walking down the hill!) and to have a hot chocolate at Le Cafe del Duomo. Z0eBelle
