Puerto Rico is situated on the south west coast of the island; relatively small in comparison to UK resorts, around 9km square, but it's built on and around 2 large hills so is also densely populated for its size. Areas of these hills are so steep in parts that the council have created "walkways of stairs" to make life a bit easier on the legs. These are all marked off with orange coloured railings, any other stairways are privately owned. It's certainly possible to walk anywhere within the resort if you're going either downhill or staying on the level, otherwise look for the local bus service or catch a taxi. Be careful using designated crossings, ensure the traffic is actually going to stop before you walk into the road on one!
Around the commercial centers you are going to meet "promotion" staff. Their job is to tell you about the restaurant, bar or club they work for and persuade you to try it. I must confess, there's quite a lot of them as you'll find out but it's often worth a listen to them to get free drinks. If you're not interested though, treat them like a bad-tempered Doberman, stay away from them and don't look into their eyes, then you should be safe - otherwise - they'll attack.

A small and attractive complex, Monte Verde Apartments are nicely situated in the resort and the property offers a comfortable and relaxing base for an enjoyable holiday.

The Nido del Aguila Apartments lie at the top of a valley, away from the main resort centre. Due to the number of steps these apartments may not be suitable for pushchairs or the less mobile.

Niza Apartments
Staying at the pleasantly refurbished Niza Apartments puts the whole of Puerto Rico on your doorstep. Walk out of the apartments and you are just moments in one direction to the main Commercial Centre or indeed Puerto Rico's fantastic beach in the other. Although if that sounds like too much effort, the Niza's pool is always on hand for refreshing afternoon swims.

A small apartment complex in a relaxed and quiet setting in the hillside resort of Puerto Rico. Situated about 700m from the resort centre with its restaurants, cafés and bars, and 1km from the main beach at Puerto Rico. There is a supermarket just 500m from the apartments. Due to their hilly location we would not recommend these apartments to those with walking difficulties.

The Puerto Azul offers a host of facilities and activities, complimented by well-equipped apartments with good standards of service. Located on the hillside with stunning views overlooking the bay of Puerto Rico. The complex attracts a mainly British clientele. The Puerto Azul is located on a large man-made beach and the resort centre is within 2.4 km, it is 600 metres to local bars and shops in the Europa Commercial Centre. The Puerto Azul is not suitable for customers with walking difficulties. The Puerto Azul has two large swimming pools, lounge area and mini market. some of activities that are available consist of tennis court, squash court, mini golf and table tennis.
