The resort of Puerto del Carmen is located on the south east coast of Lanzarote. Puerto del Carmen is only 6 miles from the islands airport, so expect some minor aircraft noise.
The old quarter of Puerto del Carmen retains something of the fishing village atmosphere, although a large majority of Puerto del Carmen is made up of modern, low-rise structures, with some interesting variations on ‘typical’ and ‘traditional’ themes. Overall Puerto del Carmen is a smart, low-density suburban environment.
Puerto del Carmen is suitable for holidaymakers who like beaches, nightlife and bars in abundant supply and easily accessible. Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote’s biggest and most popular resort. It is popular with teenagers, although it is not a ‘lager lout’ resort.
Puerto del Carmen boasts a long, wide curved beach of medium golden flat, firm sand that gently shelves into the Atlantic Ocean, making it safe for children.
