This romantic 18th-century watermill is a true heart-stealer. Azenha do Rei, standing at the edge of the unspoilt village of Estorãos, is a true heart-stealer; a granite-built 18th-century watermill which weaves its magic as soon as you arrive. The wheel still stands by the mill cottage's ancient stone walls, past which flows a rushing stream. Old stone steps and a gate lead down to the Estorãos river. So old and natural does the mill cottage appear, that nothing hints at the extraordinary care and flair that has gone into restoring the interior.
An elegant 18th-century manor house situated in a tranquil backwater. A lovely tranquil little backwater of Ponte de Lima is known as Além da Ponte, 'across the bridge', as it is just a short walk across the Roman bridge from the heart of town, with its large selection of restaurants. Além da Ponte is even more traditional than Ponte de Lima itself and comprises just a couple of rows of handsome old buildings clustered around a small square where the inhabitants meet to gossip or enjoy a meal in the unpretentious restaurant.
A delightful 18th-century stone house set by a lovely little brook. This delightful 18th-century stone house, in the hamlet of Estorãos, was once home to the village clog maker, the 'Tamanqueiro', before becoming a farmhouse. So lovingly converted was the clog maker's house that, whilst now very comfortable, it retains all the rustic charm of a typical Minho farmhouse, especially in the wonderful kitchen where shiny copper pots, dried herbs and garlic hang from the rafters.
Superb modern villa in a beautiful countryside location. Morangueiro is a modern and extremely well-equipped villa, which has been recently built upon the site of an old farming cottage. The work has been completed to a very high standard and notable new features include air-conditioning, French windows leading to an outdoor terrace and large swimming pool, extensive gardens with fruit trees, a balcony with outstanding views and an en suite Jacuzzi bathroom to the master bedroom. It is set near a small village called Ponte da Barca, which dates back to the fourteenth century.
