Capital of Majorca, the site of the only airport and the island's principal ferry port. It is a vibrant and cosmopolitan capital as well as the hub of an extensive public transport system, with bus services linking the capital to all of Mallorca's principal settlements. There are even a couple of train lines running out of Palma - one, a beautiful ride up through the mountains to Sólle, is an attraction in itself - while by car Palma is within three hours' drive of the island's furthest corner.
Palma offers its visitors many interesting sites. Be sure to visit the gothic cathedral, "la Seo", build by Majorca's king Jaume the 1st in the 13th century. |
