Olmeto
Featured Olmeto Hotels
From the 15th century onwards the ruling Genoese built around 110 towers on Corsica, to defend the strategic position the island held on the maritime crossroads between Europe, Africa and Asia. They are still a feature of the Corsican landscape today and visitors to the island will see them dotted along the coastline but a lucky few will be able to enjoy the experience of staying in one at La Tour de Micalona, new to our programme for 2005.
A former animal shelter has become a glorious secluded retreat. Located in the same gorgeous setting as its neighbour, Olivella, Bergerie Morteto's southwest facing location means it is particularly well-placed for the evening's entertainment of watching the glorious sunsets over the Valinco Gulf.
A welcoming hillside cottage with superb views. Olivella and Morteto are set on a hillside one above the other, but without vis-à-vis, and enjoy splendid views across the Valinco Gulf. The charmingly helpful owner Jean-Luc Ettori's family have had land on this hillside for generations, but the family moved to Olmeto village after the Second World War and the buildings fell into ruin.
A beautiful house, set in its own grounds, with breathtaking views over the Bay of Propriano. Situated at the end of a quiet lane, just a few minutes' drive from Olmeto, lies the secluded and wonderfully positioned Casa Di L'Aria. Set in oak and olive tree-dotted grounds, the house is very private, with the owner's detached house the only other building in the gardens. The balcony runs the entire length of the house and the views which overlook the Bay of Propriano and towards the south of the island are truly breathtaking.
We were very pleased when we were told that Monsieur Andreucci was going to build another villa next door to Vigna Maggiore. Having only worked with him for a short while, we very impressed by the design and quality finish of Vigna Maggiore, which was completed for summer 2006 and can’t wait to see Villa Doniche which will be ready for 2007. The breathtaking views of the Valinco Gulf, coupled with a brand new villa, cannot fail to impress even those who have visited the stunning island of Corsica before.
These gorgeous villas have got plenty to tempt you. First of all, they've grabbed a prime spot on a sunny, south-facing hillside gazing out on the breathtaking Gulf of Valinco. So when you wake up in the morning and throw open the doors, a turquoise sea shimmers seductively back at you. Well, that and rolling green hills and a scattering of bright bougainvillea. Your surroundings couldn't be any prettier if they tried.
This fabulous villa is not only stunning to look at, but it has some of the best facilities you are likely to find. It also boasts a marvellous view of the Valinco Gulf, stretching as far as they eye can see, with stunning mountains surrounding the clear blue waters. High above sea level you will feel at peace with the only noises coming from birds and waves of the sea. If you are looking for a villa in a stunning location, coupled with an attractive interior and excellent facilities, we recommend booking as early as possible.
An enchanting watchtower steeped in history, with some of the most beautiful sights in all of Corsica. When booking a stay in Tour de Calanca you will be transported back into Corsican history. This property is an ancient stone watchtower that has been wonderfully converted into a unique and romantic villa. With wonderful sea views overlooking the Valinco Gulf, you will feel king of the castle as you stand at the top of the tower and breathe in the stunning surroundings. Apart from the sandy cove the Tour is situated on, it is also a short drive from the beaches of Capicciolo.
Corsica is a land of shepherds guiding their flocks between the mountains and the coast as the seasons pass. Traditional shepherds' dwellings found across Corsica are made of ancient stone and known as 'bergeries'. We have been fortunate enough to discover two beautifully converted cosy bergeries set in enchanting maquis covered surroundings.
A superb old watermill set in a rural location. The combination of a rural location, characterful accommodation and easy access to the Valinco Gulf's splendid sandy beaches is irresistible for those looking for a romantic bolthole or a family house where beauty, peace and privacy can be enjoyed alongside long days on the beach.
Stunning views and a delightfully convenient setting. The combination of a brand new villa with 'all mod cons', a stunning panorama and rural surrounds, won us over to Vigna Maggiori immediately. From its niche on the hillside below Olmeto, the location boasts simply glorious views over the Valinco Gulf and invites calm and relaxation, yet is far from being isolated.
