Travellers' top tips for Oia
Beach
- When in Oia, make sure you: - try the donkeys - eat sea foods (miamy) - visit the volcano, hot springs - go to Perissa beach etc. RST07
- Take in a sunset at Kastro or at the Castle. Take a cruise out to Nea Kameni volcano. Take a day and rent a car to see Pyrgos, Perivolos beach, etc. Tony_Kenney
- If it's not too humid the sunset is the most beautiful in the world. Be prepared to walk. There is no real beach convenient to Oia. Great food! ERDocsMom
- Avoid bustling of annoying tourists. Head out before 9am. Spend day at Kamari beach & get back to Kastro restaurant for a spectacular sunset event. luv2trvl0878
- Hike the volcano, ride a donkey, rent a 4-wheeler to drive out to Kamari Beach, and check out the nightlife in Fira (especially Koo Club)!! beckybassett18

- Be sure to stay in Oia if possible. Thira is quaint, but it's not Oia. Great shopping, food and views you can't even imagine. Do the ancient Thira! VACanuck
