Travellers' top tips for Muscat
Beach
- Come for the wonderful hotels in summer but for the mountains, beach and desert in other seasons. Summers are HOT! Marmite69
- Hire an air conditioned car to get around and really tour the areas, city, mountains, remote beaches/bays. Very cheap from the airport & fuel v che PBandLE
- Shop at the Muttrah Souq and lunch on tasty heart-shaped falafels served at the cafe upstairs from the souq's main entrance off the Corniche. rcepuch
- Use the local restaurants suggested by T' A' rather than overpriced hotel food. Buy alcohol at the airport when you arrive. Car hire good value. GXtripper
- See the Souk (market) try local Omani food, buy frankencense, try Amouage perfume, explore the spectacular beaches. MarieDinNYC
- You get to the museum and shop in for some bargain souvenirs at Ruwi market. StarEntre
- Go when it's not too hot. I was there in late April and it was already 42 degrees, if you want to explore during the day, that can be tiring. jetsetmich
- stroll along the corniche in the sunshine. If you're there in February, check out the Muscat festival in Qurum Park. FearfulFlyer
