Mexico is a North American country bordered by the United States in the North, and approximately one fifth of its size. It has long been a holiday destination for American travellers but is also very popular with European tourists.

Its coastline in the east faces the Caribbean Sea as well as the Gulf of Mexico, and this is where the well known resort towns of Cancun and Playa del Carmen are situated. With plenty of exotic beaches, watersports and nightlife on offer it attracts a variety of travellers, with many staying in the all-inclusive hotels that are in plentiful supply. Over on the West Coast the most famous of Mexico’s resort areas is Acapulco. Looking out over the Pacific Ocean, the conditions are ideal for surfing and parasailing. The nightlife here is legendary with a huge array of bars and clubs to choose from. The capital, Mexico City, is one of the largest cities in the world. There are many sightseeing opportunities on offer, as well as over a hundred museums, making it is a perfect destination for cultural tourists.

Weather conditions are typically warm throughout Mexico with slight variations according to region. The central and southern parts of the country experience very hot and very humid summer seasons. During the months of August and October the risk of hurricanes increases and should be seriously considered when planning a visit. The peak tourist months are December to March.
