South Coast of Mauritius South Coast of Mauritius
Mauritius is a small island and part of the Mascarene group of islands that are located in the Indian Ocean, just off the south-east coast of Africa.

The island has long been a favoured destination for honeymooners due to its tropical setting replete with white sand beaches and turquoise waters. Surrounded by coral reef, Mauritius is also one of the best diving destinations in the world and there are numerous dive centres located on the island. Other watersports that are readily available include water-skiing, parasailing and windsurfing. Mauritian nightlife, especially nightclubs, is mainly concentrated in Grand Bay, in the north of the island, although many of the large hotels in the main resorts provide bars, restaurants, casinos and nightclubs.

The tropical climate of the island means that it is warm throughout the year with increases in humidity in the summer. The winter brings cooler and drier conditions.

The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, also known as Plaisance International Airport, is the only airport on the island and is located around 30 miles outside of the capital: Port Louis.
