Malta is an island country in the Mediterranean situated just below Sicily. Only three of the islands that make up this archipelago are inhabited; Malta, Gozo and Comino. It has long been a firm favourite with UK travellers due in part to the fact that since gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 the island has still kept a very English feel to it, from cars being driven on the left to English being an official language after Maltese.

Valletta is the island's capital and is full of historical sites and beautiful architecture. Sliema along with St Julian offer a lively atmosphere with numerous clubs and bars to entertain the party crowd. The resort of Qwara is preferred by those seeking a more peaceful laid back holiday.

Typical of a Mediterranean island the Maltese climate follows a pattern of long hot summers and mild wet winters. The summer months from June to September usually benefit from average temperatures in the 30s though it is not uncommon for them to soar up into the 40s.

Malta International Airport is the only airport in the whole of Malta and serves all of the islands.
