Holiday Watchdog: Limassol Reviews

Located at the centre of the south coast of Cyprus, 26 miles south west of Larnaca international airport and 36 miles east of Paphos international airport lies Limassol also known as Lemesos.
Limassol, Cyprus's largest seaside resort is arguably the least attractive of all of the resorts on the south Cypriot Coast. The main tourist area which can be found just over 2 miles east of the town, consists of a 7 mile long stretch of coast lined with a mixture of apartments and hotels. There is a main road which does run the length of the resort. Heavy traffic on this road makes driving in Limassol very time consuming and frustrating. In Limassol you will find shops, bars, discos and tavernas are plentiful along the busy seafront road. for a more traditional view of Limassol visitors should head for the old town. Here small factories house the shoemakers, tinkers, quilt makers and ironmongers.
Limassol has a beach of dark coarse sand and pebbles. Travel 2 miles east of the town and you will find Dassoudi, the resort's main beach. Here, you will find that the beach is equipped with modern changing rooms, a snack bar, restaurant, car park and water sports. The beach itself is dark pebbly sand. Other Beaches include Lady's Mile, which is 3 miles west of the old town, this beach is a 5 mile stretch of dark brown sand. Also the beach of Curium, is 10 miles west of Limassol, it has a quiet expanse of coarse, dark, pebbly sand at the foot of high cliffs.
Eating out in Limassol will not cause a problem. There are a vast variety of restaurants that line the main coast road. You will find typical Cypriot tavernas, pizzerias, fish restaurants, kebab bars and familiar sites such as MacDonald's and Burger King. You will also find that eating out is relatively inexpensive.
