Lake District Holidays

The Lake District is the largest National Park in England and is located in Cumbria, in the north-west of England.

The Lake District is a popular tourist destination especially for those who favour outdoor pursuits, particularly hiking, mountain biking and climbing. In fact, England’s largest lake: Windermere, and its highest mountain: Scafell Pike, are both located here. The area has also been home to famous writers including William Wordsworth, and provided the inspiration for many of the characters in Beatrix Potter’s books.

Cumbria, as with other parts of England, experiences four quite distinct seasons. Summers are fairly warm and winters can be very cold. Rainfall can occur at any time throughout the year so it is always advisable to pack a waterproof jacket.
