The scenic Kioni harbour in Kefalonia The scenic Kioni harbour in Kefalonia
The largest of the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia (Cephalonia) sits to the west of mainland Greece nestled between the islands of Lefkas (Lefkada) and Zante (Zakynthos)

Kefalonia has not been impacted by tourism as heavily as some of the more popular Greek islands and this has meant that it has managed to retain much of its traditional charm. Popular holiday resorts such as Skala, Lassi and Lourdes offer child friendly beaches along with a very relaxed nightlife, as a result the island is a favourite with families and couples. Sightseeing on the island includes an underground cave lake at Melissani and a national park at the top of the island’s highest mountain, Mount Ainos.

Summer weather starts around May and continues into October with temperatures in the peak months of July and August sitting around 30°C.

Flights to the island land at Kefalonia international Airport approximately 6 miles outside of the capital: Argostoli.
