Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands and is only 100km off the African coast. The island enjoys over 3000 hours of sunshine every year and shares the same weather as Florida and Mexico. Fuerteventura is 98km long and 30km across and has over 150 beautiful, sandy beaches, known to be some of the best in Europe.
This is the quietest Canary Island, the biggest resorts being Jandia and Costa Calma in the South, Caleta de Fuste on the East coast and Corralejo in the North. Most resorts offer some nightlife with bars and restaurants, but Fuerteventura mainly attracts families and couples wanting a calm, relaxing beach holiday.
There is plenty to see and do in Fuerteventura.
There are watersports available in most resorts and conditions are great for windsurfing. In fact the PWA hold competitions here every July. Don't miss a trip to the Corralejo National Park to see the amazing sand dunes, or to Betancuria, the islands original capital. A day trip to Lanzarote to see the volcanic National Park is well worth it.
