Fuerteventura Holidays
One of the many beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura
Just off the coast of Morocco, Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands.
Despite being only 60 miles long and 19 miles across, the island has over 150 beaches along its coastline known to be some of the best in Europe. Coastal conditions also make it ideal for windsurfing and surfing with the island playing host to the P.W.A world windsurfing competition each July.
Being the more low-key of the Canary Islands it tends to attract families and couples in search of a more laid back and relaxed holiday. The island's biggest resorts are Caleta de Fuste on the east coast which is popular with families, Jandia in the South and Corralejo in the North which has a more vibrant nightlife.
The weather in Fuerteventura, much like the other Canary Islands, is year round sunshine with very mild winters. Average temperatures in summer are in the high 20s though extremes of high 30s are not uncommon.
Flights to the island land at Fuerteventura Airport, also known as El Matorral Airport.
