It has long been one of the world’s most visited destinations with tourists arriving to enjoy the many different holiday types that France has to offer. Paris, the capital city, is associated with designer fashion, world renowned cuisine and fine art. The Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre are just some of the popular attractions that bring visitors to the French capital. In the south-east of the country, facing the Mediterranean Sea, is the French Riviera. This coastline of beach resorts is well known for the film festival held each year in the town of Cannes. Along the border with Italy are the French Alps home to numerous ski resorts and the largest mountain in the Alps: Mont Blanc. In the south-west is the city of Bordeaux renowned for its wine, the beautiful beaches of Biarritz and the healing waters of Lourdes. In the west, stands the city of Le Mans made famous by the 24 hour endurance race held there each year.
