Florida is an American state in the south-east of the country. Its east coast faces out onto the Atlantic Ocean and its west, over the Gulf of Mexico.

With so many things to see and do it can be difficult to decide what part of Florida to visit. For families the choice is nearly always the theme parks that are dotted around central Florida such as SeaWorld, the Kennedy Space Centre, Universal Studios and, of course, Walt Disney World. South Florida is where the culturally rich city of Miami is located offering miles of beautiful beaches and Latin flavoured nightlife. This is also home to the Everglades National Park which can be explored by many different means including by bicycle, boat tour and canoe hire. Further south lie the Florida Keys, an archipelago made up of over a thousand islands and offering ideal conditions for sea fishing and diving.

Florida’s weather is divided between the north and south of the state. The northern region is fairly seasonal, experiencing hot summers and cold winters. Both central and south Florida benefit from their proximity to the Tropic of Cancer with seasons being split into either wet or dry. The dry season begins around October and runs until May. This is then followed by the wet season where the risk of hurricanes increases, especially around the Florida Keys.
