| Egypt is an Arab Republic and is located on the north eastern portion of the African continent between Libya and the Gaza Strip/Israel. Egypt covers an area of roughly 390,000 square miles, that's about 4 times the size of the UK. Egypt is surrounded by three different seas – The Mediterranean Sea on it's north coast and the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba on it's eastern coast.
The Climate in Egypt is very hot and dry with extremely mild winters making it an ideal place to visit between the months of November and April. Temperatures in Egypt average around 20 C (69 F), but these can climb beyond 27 C (80 F) in the summer months. During the spring and summer, you can witness the early morning fog that comes on the Nile Delta to provide some additional needed moisture, a truly magnificent site and worth arising early for.
Important Note to Travellers: Hotels and holiday villages throughout Egypt are officially graded from 1 to 5 star but the standard is significantly lower than that of equivalent European star ratings. 1- and 2-star properties are unlikely to be used by British tour operators and are best suited to people prepared to "rough it".
