Devon Holidays
Torquay is famous for its harbour.
Devon is England’s fourth largest county and is located in the south-west of the UK. It is bordered by Dorset and Somerset in the east and Cornwall in the west.
Devon has long been a popular holiday destination due to its extensive coastline, replete with golden beaches, and its picturesque parklands. Well known seaside towns include Torbay, commonly referred to as the English Riviera, Torquay, which has three of its beaches awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety and Croyde Bay, which has some of the best waves for surfing in the country. The county is also home to the Dartmouth and Exmoor National Parks. Exmoor Park overlaps into Devon from its neighbouring county Somerset. There are numerous walking trails including a section of the South West Coastal Path. It is also where the famous Beast of Exmoor has been sighted. There are also many historic sites of interest to visit including Buckfast Abbey and Exeter Cathedral.
Weather conditions in Devon, much like the rest of England, can vary throughout the year but usually follow a distinct four season pattern. Being located so far south means that the county has slightly milder winters compared to the more northerly parts of England. The months of June through to September provide the best climate for beach holidays.
