Unfortunately, due to the massive influx of tourists in recent years, some resorts are now over-developed and lack their natural, traditional charms, but for those willing to travel inland, a host of sleepy villages and tranquil, attractive countryside await discovery.
Nature lovers can take walks inland, and Cyprus is a great island for birdwatching. For those seeking excitement and prefer to stay by the beach, a good range of watersports are available in high season. There is a good choice of evening entertainment in all major resorts, with many restaurants, snack bars, bars and discos.
