Costa Tropical Holidays

The Costa Tropical is a stretch of coastline in the south of Spain, positioned between the Costa del Sol to the south and Costa Almeria to the north.

Unlike the neighbouring Costa del Sol, the Costa Tropical has not been overdeveloped for tourism and therefore has much more of a traditional Spanish feel about it. Popular resorts in the area include Almunecar and Salobrena. Almunecar has over 20 beaches, plenty of bars and clubs and is home to the Castillo de San Miguel, a Moorish castle that was once a Roman fortress. The small town of Salobrena is where you will find the Penon, a large rock sticking out from the coastline that was originally a prison and later became a Christian burial site. Nightlife here is quite low key but many bars and restaurants stay open late and there is plenty of live music and cultural events.

Sunshine can usually be guaranteed all year round in this part of Spain with Summers experiencing average temperatures in the mid 20s moving up into the 30s and 40s around July and August time.

Two airports service the Costa Tropical area: Malaga Airport which sits around 1.5 hours drive away and Granada Airport which is approximately 2 hours drive.
