The Central American country of Costa Rica is bordered on its east and west coast by the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, and the countries of Panama and Nicaragua in the south-east and north.
Costa Rica is known mostly for its array of landscapes including volcanoes, mountainous regions, rain forests as well as a Pacific and Caribbean coastline. The region of Guanacaste is a popular tourist destination due to its numerous beaches and outdoor activities that are on offer from white-water rafting to volcano tours. Located on the Pacific coast it is also a haven for surfers and other wind-driven watersport enthusiasts.
Costa Rica benefits from a year round tropical climate and has two distinct seasons, the dry and the wet. The dry season runs from December through to April with the hottest time of the year being April which averages around the 30’s. Once into May the wet season begins and temperatures begin to fall until November which sees an average temperature of 26°C.
