Roughly translated as the "Sunny Coast", the Costa del Sol is a region in the south of Spain spanning a stretch of Mediterranean coastline from Nerja in the east to San Pedro in the west.
It is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations comprising of some well known package holiday resorts including Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Puerto Banus, Marbella and the capital; Malaga.
The beaches are shallow and sandy and are ideal for children making it popular for family holidays. The younger generation are drawn to the resorts of Puerto Banus and Benalmadena where the bars and clubs don't start to come alive until around midnight. For those looking for sightseeing opportunities there are numerous excursions on offer including the caves at Nerja and day trips to Gibraltar.

- Fuengirola: The best restaurants are away from the beach so keep a block or two up and you will find some nice places. The food on street is pretty poor. mesker

- Torremolinos: When in Torremolinos, make sure you walk down all of the Promenade, there's much more beyond what you can see & experience the Marina nightlife lanospatel
- Torremolinos: visit plaza mayor (1st train stop after airport enroute to torremolinos) for decent and cheap shopping especially the nike factory shop. portyjambo
- Benalmadena: go to the harbour - nice shops, restaurants and beautiful views. juls63
