Costa Almeria Holidays
Beautiful white houses with a sea view in Macanas in Costa Almeria
The Costa Almeria is a stretch of coast that runs along the south-east coastline of Spain.
Although Costa Almeria sits between Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol it is quite different from these two resort areas in that it has retained much of its original character and remains rather undeveloped in terms of tourism. There are some exceptions, such as the popular package-holiday resorts of Roquetas de Mar, Aguadulce, Adra and Mojacar Playa. Nightlife in these resorts is quite low key with entertainment more centred around live music venues, bars and restaurants. The area attracts holidaymakers in search of a relaxing break away from the nightlife driven resorts that are found along the other Costas. It is also popular with nature lovers due to its unspoilt landscapes such as the Cabo de Gata Natural Park which is home to a number of picturesque beaches and hidden coves.
The landscape inland is quite arid and much of this is due to the very hot and very dry climate that Costa Almeria experiences during the summer months of June to September. The autumn and winter months are slightly cooler but rainfall is still in short supply.
