Corsica Holidays
The French island of Corsica is located in the Mediterranean Sea, just off the coast of Italy and above the island of Sardinia.
The Corsican landscape is a mix of mountainous peaks, lush green forests and long stretches of golden, sandy beaches. This makes Corsica an ideal holiday destination for travellers who enjoy a relaxing Mediterranean beach holiday with the opportunity to explore the nature reserves and historical towns that are prevalent throughout the island. Hiking, mountain-biking, hang-gliding, canoeing and diving are just a small selection of the activities on offer. Corsica has long defended itself against over-development by the tourism industry, and so it has retained a laid back atmosphere much loved by visitors in search of a quiet Mediterranean island with great cuisine and beautiful beaches. In keeping with the relaxing surroundings nightlife in Corsica is based around bars and restaurants in the main towns and resorts although there are a couple of nightclubs in and around the town of Porto Vecchio which lies in the south.
Corsican summers, which run from May until September, come with plenty of sunshine. The peak months of July and August are the hottest with temperatures easily reaching into the 30s. Winter time brings with it much cooler weather which can sometimes become quite cold, so travellers are advised to pack accordingly.
The two main airports on the Island of Corsica are Ajaccio airport and Bastia Airport.
