Caribbean Holidays
The Caribbean usually refers to the group of islands that largely reside in the Caribbean Sea with some exceptions, such as the Bahamas, which are located in the Atlantic Ocean.
The appeal of these islands has long been the tropical climate, idyllic beaches and clear blue seas favoured by all travellers whether on honeymoon or a family holiday. Each island has its own character and historical background giving them an individual flavour and providing tourists with a wide variety of holiday choices. The Caribbean Sea, with its clear waters and coral reefs, is ideal for fishing, snorkelling and diving and most, if not all, resort islands will have dive shops offering dive classes. With a number of the Caribbean Islands having a coastline that faces the Atlantic Ocean surfing and windsurfing are also very popular with some of the best surfing conditions being found in Barbados, Aruba and St. Lucia.
Hurricanes are always a consideration when booking a holiday to the Caribbean as many of the islands fall within the hurricane belt. However, there have been very few instances of islands being directly hit by a hurricane and if you wish to avoid the possibility completely then travelling outside of the hurricane season or choosing an island outside of the hurricane belt is the best option.
