Located in south-east Europe and sharing its borders with 5 other countries, Bulgaria has grown in popularity as a holiday destination over the last ten years.

Most holiday makers looking for golden sandy beaches head to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast which lies to the east of the country. Resorts such as Sunny Beach and Golden Sands are popular destinations for many Europeans including Russians and Romanians, and more recently, German and British travellers. Visitors to this region can expect hot weather especially in the peak months of July and August where temperatures can easily reach 30°C. Once the summer sun has passed Bulgaria still has something to offer travellers in the way of ski holidays. Popular ski resorts such as Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo offer numerous pistes of varying length and difficulty.

Other activities that Bulgaria has to offer are hiking among many of its national parks, mountain climbing and visiting historical sites including the Roman baths at Varna and numerous museums in the capital: Sofia.

There are 4 main airports in Bulgaria: Plovdiv, Sofia, Burgas and Varna. Both Burgas and Varna airports service the holiday resorts along the Black Sea coast, with Plovdiv being the closest to the ski resorts of Bansko and Pamporovo.
