Bonaire has one of the oldest and strictest national marine parks. SCUBA divers and snorkelers are expected to pay a nominal marine park fee ranging from $5 per snorkeler to $25 per diver for a marine park tag. All SCUBA divers must complete a mandatory orientation session before diving. Ensuring that each diver can maintain buoyancy and practice a no touch reef policy is what keeps this marine park pristine. Bonaire is consistently surveyed and voted as a top island for its fish diversity. Some dive sites boast over 300 different species on reefs in the "backyards" of many popular hotels. These hotels' "house reefs" have become legend in many divers' logbooks. What makes Bonaire a truly unique dive experience is the ease and availability of shore diving.
