Palia La Roca Hotel-Club reviews

Fourth time at Palia la Roca.

My wife and I have recently booked up for a week All Inclusive at this hotel. We have enjoyed it so much the last three times we went, that we are taking our daughter and future son in law with us.We have told them what a super time we have had there, and what good food and clean rooms there are.The evening entertainment isn't brilliant, but its only a twenty minute walk to the night clubs, which have some very good acts on. I would definitely recommend this hotel for good value for money, friendly and efficient bar staff and clean, well maintained rooms.

Good hotel as a starting point to explore Benalmadena and surroundings (i.e. Malaga or Granada). Beach and boulevard at 100 meters. Bus to Fuengirola and Torremolinos at 50 meters.
Clean room, alle the basics are available. Personnel: friendly but does not speak English, only Spanish.
The meals are ok but for some variation there is at the main road on the left a great Italian place (Il Girasole) that serves fresh and tasty meals at a reasonable price.
The train gets you to Malaga in about half an hour. From Malaga it´s another hour and a half to Granada.
Must see: Alhambra in Granada, El Torcal near Antequera, Picasso museum in Malaga.

We went last October for a mini break and this time went back for 7 nights all inclusive. Lots of choice on meals...only negative for me was not enough choice on desserts but I do have a sweet tooth!! Always plenty of salad and fruit available at meal times and cooked breakfast for those who want it.... staff always polite and helpful....some of the holidaymakers were a bit rude at times but this didnt spoil our enjoyment. The choice of drinks was good....yes you do have plastic cups which I heard some people complaining about but this didnt bother us. The rooms are clean....only english tv channel was sky news but we didnt go away to watch tele!! Location is great and you can easily walk to the marina from there...approx 20 mins along the promenade. Would definitely go back and the all incl plan is excellent value for money and worth every penny.

Having read some of the reviews we were very pleasantly surprised!! My friend and I both stayed here for 3 nights on all inclusive - there was plenty of choice for all meals, including a full cooked breakfast, plenty of salads and fruit for lunch/dinner plus some of the meat was actually cooked in front of you so you knew it was fresh! The all inclusive ran from 10.30am until 10.30pm and during this time you could also have snacks - burgers/hotdogs plus sandwiches and crepes in the afternoon......I would recommend them! The choice of drinks was very good and even the cocktails which you had to pay for were very cheap! The hotel is very central and it is local to shops and bars....the staff were very helpful. would recommend to everyone and am thinking of going back next month!!

Me and my girlfriend stayed in La Roca for 5 nights for a nice holiday getaway. Unfortunately, It did not turn out like this! First impressions were actually fairly decent. The reception staff appeared friendly, the room appeared clean (and cockroach free!), though the doors were really hard to open. We also had a lovely view from our balcony of the sea front. Our opinion took a dramatic turn for the worst when we had dinner.....
The food was all meat pretty much and as my girlfriend is a vegetarian, this didnt make her happy! something you really don't want to do! Most of the food was cold or lukewarm and i questioned whether or not it had been left from lunch or the day before even. I had a chicken wing and when i went to bite into it the meat in the middle was uncooked (literally pink) and when i went to complain to the staff about it they just walked away. The bacon in the morning was nowhere near cooked enough and was not ready until around 8am when it was supposed to be ready at 7am. The only relatively good meal we had was on the last day but probably because we were hungover so anything tasted good.
If you were half board or all inclusive you still had to pay for drinks unless you wanted to drink the cheap red wine that gets left on the side all day!
The salad was dry and the food was all pretty bland and cold. We ate out most of the time after that!
Later the next day we thought we would go for a swim in the nice looking pool,
however we found out even the inside one was unheated and horrible to swim in, i literally had to drag my girlfriend into the pool! We only went in once. All the beach beds were plastic and falling apart and taken up by the spanish tourists who were unwelcomeing and dissaproving of us because we were young.
The cleaners come at random times of the day to clean the room, leaving us without clean towels until late afternoon sometimes. However there was one very friendly cleaner who was more than willing to clean up our room when we accidentally flooded our room!
The good points about the hotel were the clean rooms and some of the staff were friendly(ish!). The bad points outnumber the good by far. We did enjoy our stay to be honest, but that was not helped in any way by this hotel. My advice is to never even consider coming to this hotel.
COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK SUICIDAL

My mother and I have stayed at this hotel in March for the last 3 years. It is a typical 3 star Spanish hotel - no frills but very clean. Our rooms (with balcony) have had tiled or laminated flooring and been spotlessly clean. Large bathroom and loads of clean towels. The food is Spanish and there is plenty of it and usually something for everyone. The garden is small and there are two pools, one under cover in low season with a pool attendant/life guard there during opening times. An entertainments team arrange games every day and provide some evening entertainment. They are not brilliant but they do have a go! The clientel is mainly French, Spanish and some Brits. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The weather is usually warm and dry and there aren't too many tourists about. Access to hotel is via a short but fairly steep hill. However, once on the promenade you can walk for miles as it is flat. There is a subway across the main road but I can't remember if it is wheelchair friendly. There is a very large park near hotel that is full of chicken, rabbits, ducks, peacocks and birds. Within walking distance is the marina which has loads of shops and restaurants around it. I think this hotel and area make for a very good budget holiday.

We stayed at La Roca for one week commencing 18 October 2008, we had a lovely time the hotel is clean, and rooms have a balcony and sea view. The gardens and pool are quit small but are very pleasant. We stayed half board and the food was very good. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. At the evening meal you could always find something you liked even if you made up strange meals, there was plenty of fruit and sweets, salads etc. You also get a caraf of wine (red or white or both) complimentary with your evening meal. The staff were pleasant and halpful.
The bar is the only problem there is only one bar person, who is very pleasant, but there is always a queue, but you can always go out after dinner to the various bars across the road, round the corner or on the sea front just across the road. The location of this hotel is lovely it is handy for everything especially for the beach.
I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Just returned from a week at this hotel. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We had ants and a cockroach in our bathroom on the first night and demanded a change of room. We were moved to another room which was not much better. If you get a room overlooking the pool, these are much nicer than the other rooms. Some of the furniture in the room had cigarette burns on it. The food is poor and lacks variety. The entertainment is rubbish. Most of the guests were French or Spanish - very noisy!
This hotel needs a makeover - very dated and grotty. The plates in the dining room have been washed so much that they are cracked and chipped and should be thrown away. One of the bed sheets also had a cigarette burn hole in it. If you are thinking of booking this hotel - my advice is DON'T!!

We were 4 ladies who came to the palia on all inclusive, the rooms we were given were lovely, the bedding was changed 3 times in the week and clean towels every day, the reception staff were very polite and helpful. The bar and their is only one is very small and they only had 1 staff on so it took quite a time to get a drink, perhaps that is what they want, you could not get a cup of coffee after 10.30 at night because they turned the coffee machine off which was odd. They should make the bar larger and more staff on,as they had a lot of stag and hen parties arriving and they hogged the bar and made it more difficult to get to the bar. The restaurant had different food every day and we all found it very tasty and never left there hungry, as it was so hot they needed more air conditioning on.The entertainment team were very good very continental alittle bit loud when you were sitting round the pool. We all enjoyed our holiday verymuch and found it very relaxing.the only thing is that they do not cater very much for children food wise and entertainment so would't advise taking kids there. Would definately return.

Jun 2008, Mrs B McConnell

My husband and I booked a holiday to this hotel. He is disabled and due to heavy machinery and digging the road from the main duel carriageway which takes you across via a tunnel to the promenade a beach. I can only say that the holiday was like a nightmare as access the main road was blocked off due to the digging. It was not suitable for a wheelchair or power scooter which we had intended to hire. There was no suitable access at all. The cars had to come down a steep hill to the door of the hotel. As for the hotel itself, I think it has seen better days, and the food was not of good quality especially the meat. Vegetables are plentyful but rather bland, and there was not a good atmosphere at all in the resturant. They advertise that if you go full board you will get free drinks and wine at dinner. These drinks were served all day in a small plastic tumbler, cheap quality. The rooms were pleasant enough, but there were small beasts crawling around, and the bed linen and towels are rather old and well worn. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone disabled or not and will never consider going there again. Also the drainage in the bathroom sink was blocked frequently. So think very carefully before booking a holiday there. Also the hotel is on a very steep hill.
