Great location

Just got back from a lovely stay. Nice hotel, great location with the marina and beach at the bottom of the tropical garden complete with little parakeets.(We were lucky enough to have one of the corner family suites with a triple balcony over looking the beautiful pool gardens and the marina; be aware that some rooms look out over a side street! We definitely lucked out.) Quite busy when we were there but mostly pensioners and families which was brilliant, it meant there no drunken idiots! We were half board and had lots of choice for breakfast and evening meals. All the usual "all you can eat" buffet style stuff, i.e. Full English, continental or fruit etc for breakfast. Evening meals had a great salad starter with a choice of a main meal of meat or fresh fish, with all the trimmings. The fussy kids could survive on chips, sausage, beans, pizza and all the desserts. Entertainment was provided in the evenings which the kids loved and it saved us wasting money down in the puerto. The only gripe we had with our 2 little girls was that there were only 2 toilets you could use without returning to the room. One at the fitness centre and one in reception. As you can imagine these had lots of use by everyone and despite regular cleaning we preferred to return to our room.

We are regular guests and managed to fit in a short break between longer stays that are usually in May and October. The hotel was full of Spanish families and that was a big plus as there was a lovely positive atmosphere in the hotel and quiet at night allowing us to sleep really well. The food was very good with loads of choice and I disagree with other reviews that state the food has gone downhill. Despite the hotel being fully booked everywhere was spotlessly clean and we feel that the cleaning staff do a fantastic job. Indeed, all of the staff work exceptionally hard and we would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

when we first arrived we were not shown around and were left to find everything ourselves, we were told that the hotel was for young party people and singles but we soon realised it was mainly for the older generation. the staff were quite arrogant apart from the house keeping, they were lovely, on the other hand i had hurt myself one night and got a little blood on my bed sheets, when i came back 2 my room later in the day it appeared they had made the beds etc but hadn't put clean sheets on the beds as there was still blood on the sheets. we had all inclusive package with the hotel but found ourselves eating out every day as the food was just awful. The area itself was absolutely beautiful, lots of shops and many pubs and clubs so we enjoyed ourselves but was a waste of money as most of the all inclusive was NOT all inclusive ie. drinks, we only had a small selection of drinks that were incusive, the rest we had to pay for and were extremely expensive. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are self catering and not spending alot of time in the hotel through the day.

We have just returned from a long weekend away at the Hotel Palmasol and although the hotel was fully booked mainly with Spanish pensioners everywhere was very clean and the food of a high standard. We noted how hard the staff worked to keep standards to the way we have grown to appreciate over the years and this was noted by several others staying who are regular visitors also. The weather was very mixed during our stay but yoga/pilates, boules and some evening entertainment kept us busy. We recommend to all who appreciate good value, good food and lovely gardens and pool area.

Relaxing Break

We have just returned from another lovely stay at the Hotel Palmasol. The staff are always helpful and cheerful and the animation programme particularly good. The food is always of a good standard with lots of choice even for vegetarians like myself. The rooms, although a little basic are always spotlessly clean as are all of the public rooms. The gardens and pool area are beautiful and a lovely place to relax. There is a gym and indoor pool also for cooler days. Each time we stay at the Palmasol there are always quite a few regular visitors there at the same time, all of us appreciating the good quality and value for money that has been constant for the last 30 years. In summary this is a three star hotel that provides a relaxing break that is managed and run by hard working staff.

Dont do it!

this hotel is very dated, never wothy of it's star ratings, the staf are the most unhelpful gang that I have come across. we booked a double room overlooking the gardens and pool area. we ended up overlooking two semi demolished rat infested hotels that looked like London during the blitz, this area was also the main road from the marina, so if you are mad enough to stay here don't expect any sleep. We aked to change rooms, but the surly staff member shrugged his shoulders and said not possible.
The lights fused in our bathroom, so we were unable to use that for several hours, the electrician left the floor covered in bits of debris, this was still there there two days later. the good points are the gardens, they were quite nice. the breakfast was well i paid for so i may as well eat it.
I would never return to this particular hotel unless i was casting for a remake of fawlty towers

We found the hotel a very nice place to stay and would certainly stay there again - and recommend it to friends.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and they all spoke English.
The room we had was basic and clean, but was ideal for us. We did find a musty smell to the room when we first went into it (the shower appeared to be leaking through the wall into an adjacent cupboard, which had some mould on the wall). The smell seemed to go after a few minutes and didn't bother us after this. The beds were good, but firm and there was airconditioning, which we used overnight as the temperatures were still very warm.
The meals were excellent and there was plenty of choice.
The hotel location was also very good, being only two minutes stroll to the beach and the marina complex, with it's modern shops and restaurants. Benalmadena is slightly quieter than some of the other, trendy resorts (not as many stags/hens parties) and is a good location for families and more 'mature' people.
Overall, the hotel was one of the better ones that we have stayed at and we would recommend it to anyone.

After reading some very dodgy reviews about this hotel, I was dreading the holiday, especially considering I was the one who picked and booked the hotel for a party of 7 (4 Adults and 3 children). BUT... after a late flight and arriving at the hotel at almost midnight I was pleasantly surprised by the bright and clean reception area and friendly greeting. On booking in we were told they had laid a cold platter for us in the dinning room if we were hungry - the first time I have been offered this from any hotel I have travelled to!! From here on the holiday was absolutely perfect, the food is similar to most European buffet's its not 5* but there was lots of choice and we always managed to find plenty we liked. The room we had was obvioulsy a family room on the corner of the hotel and was huge, it was larger than most so it may not be a true representation but the balcony streched around the whole corner of the hotel and was amazing, with a perfect view of the marina and beach. The beds were made, room tidied and clean towels were left daily as you would expect. The pool and grounds are lovely and clean and the jacuzzi was lovely to sit in in the afternoon with a cocktail from the bar! The hotel's location is perfect too, turn left down the hill to the beautiful marina or turn right up the hill to the main road and bus routes. The children still havn't stopped raving about the hotel and are begging us to book again. The impression this hotel has left will last a lifetime!

Good stay

We brought our 5 yr old grand-daughter here for a week's stay in Sept. We had stayed at this hotel 8 yrs ago and it has changed little since. The good points are the location - right on the Marina and near to bus stops for Marbella/Mijas and Torremolinos. Food better than expected and they have changed their awful old policy of you having to share a table with others which was most off-putting!Good choice at all meals - better than expected. Room was v large with 3 good sized beds. Good standard of cleanliness and they responded positively to my e mail request for a quiet room overlooking the pool 4 weeks before we went there. Down side is that the bathroom is extremely small (so small that using the bidet was a physical impossibility even for a 5 year old!)and there is only 1 barman on in the evening with long queues at the bar. We were there with a lot of Saga clients but we welcomed the quiet change from hen and stag parties. Would certainly go again.

Have stayed at palmasol 2 or 3 times a year for last 10 years approx. when it was part of the H10 hotel group. Now it has lost it's H10 status we thought it would be no different but how wrong we were. Have always requested and received 'high floor with pool view' (We are H10 club class members) Sent e-mail 4 days before arrival asking for 'high room with pool view' and even put reason (quieter at night). On arrival given room 133 (1st floor over main door) meaning coaches arriving all hours and noisy people leaving night clubs at 3 or 4am. Refused room and told 'only room available' was 533 (still above main door but on top floor)accepted room under protest, but on looking round hotel that night, found that most rooms had no lights on, no towels drying on balconys or any signs of life from most hotel rooms. Also restaurant and lounge mainly empty that night, so clearly hotel not remotely full. Kept awake every night by coaches arriving, noisy revellers (who are now playing new game of kicking and banging stones against metal sheeting protecting derelict buildings opposite) when leaving nightclubs. So, after being given room 533 and still kept awake all night most nights we will never set foot in the hotel again. If you want quiet nights don't go there.

Relaxing Hotel - Great Location

We actually have been there twice over the last 10 years once with my mother and her friend, and later on our own. What we really liked was the location of the hotel down a quiet side street which was almost a cul-de-sac with cars only allowed through from the harbour. Also directly opposite were about 6 UK style pubs/cafes with very cheap beer and great food & company. The hotel itself was very clean and friendly, but typical of most Spanish hotels-the pool was freezing cold-one of the reasons why we go longhaul now to hotter locations.

Cheap & Cearful!

I was a little worried about noise issues, having read some of the reviews on here before travelling, but i needn't have been. We stayed at the hotel over a weekend, i.e Sat & Sun night and never had a single noise issue, day or night and i am a light sleeper. The hotel was very clean and there was always an army of cleaners cleaning the bar areas, foyer, pool area etc.
The check-in process was easy, hand over your booking papaerwork and the receptionist will do the rest before handing over your keycard. The room itself was really nice with two double beds, a decent sized LCD tv, an effective air con unit and a nice balcony with a great pool view. Unfortunately no frige but you can get soft drinks at any time from a vending machine in the foyer. The 'lock' on the patio doors is very poor so i'd recommend using the safe if you have valuables as the balcony is easily accessible from the rooms either side if you get someone that way inclined beside you!!Top tip - when you go in your room you need to put a card in a slot in order that the electricity works, this can be any card and doesn't have to be your keycard so when you go out for the night put a loyalty card / bank card etc in the slot so your air con stays on, alas when you get in at night the rooms already cool!!Location is excellent, leave the hotel and go downhill 2mins any you're at the marina, leave and go uphill and 2mins later you're at the 24hr square. The food in the hotel was basic but filled a hole, we were early both nights abd there was a plentiful supply of hot food, salad and sweets. The entertainment wasn't great, in fact it was so bad it was really good, the guy on the keyboard is something else!!!But there is so much in the way of bars / restaurants in the immediate vicinity that this isn't a problem. The swimming pool was fantastic and there was never a problem getting a sun lounger, even though the hotel was dead busy. To conclude, if you go to this hotel bearing in mind it's a decent priced 3* then you shouldn't be dissappointed, if you go there expecting the Ritz then you'll not enjoy your stay.
