Hotel Description:

The Reina Cristina Hotel is one of the most traditional hotels in Spain and the oldest on the Costa de Sol. It maintains the original Victorian decoration of the epoch in which it was built, while being fully equipped with modern facilities and services. Surrounded by gardens of palms, lawns and flowers, the hotel is an oasis of tranquillity.

" I know people have said it’s not... "

I know people have said it’s not really a children place but there are activities for the kids to join in. I went with my family and I have a brother whose 15, and a sister whose 13 and we had a fab time. We also met up with another family who have kids as young as 7 still enjoying themselves.

It’s in my opinion one of the best hotels in the world. I love it there and am going back next year for 2months.

" We stayed at this hotel in February... "

We stayed at this hotel in February and had a great time. It’s a beautiful hotel with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is situated on a hill over looking the port of Algeciras.

This is probably the best hotel in the area as Algeciras is very Spanish and in some places quite seedy. It has one indoor and one outdoor swimming pool, beautiful gardens and plenty of activities. I would say that this hotel doesn’t cater for children and when we went it was mostly older people staying there. The food was great and the drink was very plentiful. This was my first time all-inclusive and I was very impressed.

The staff were friendly and very helpful if I ever get the chance to go back to the Reina Cristinal I would jump at it.

" This was my third trip to the Reina... "

This was my third trip to the Reina Cristina and I would recommend it to anyone.

A beautiful hotel situated in Algeciras in the south of Spain. The hotel itself is over 100 years old and has a fantastic history. Names such as Ava Gardener, Sir Winston Churchill etc stayed there and even recently Harrison Ford.

Costs for both of us flying out of Scotland to Malaga and then a private transfer all in came to £700 per person, not bad for an all inclusive 4 star hotel.

I first went there through Air Tours and had a fantastic time and the next year I came back and took my friends. It’s an all-inclusive hotel so drinks & meals are free and the quality of the food is beyond reproach.

Although its situated on top of a hill over looking the port of Algeciras it’s not really for the inform, children are not really catered for so there is usually none around.

Gibraltar is only 20 euros by taxi and is less than 20 minutes away, good for a day out and to stock up on even cheaper duty frees. The local city centre is still Spanish, no “English breakfasts or British food” here, it’s the real Spain so brush up on your Spanish if you want to go shopping.

The hotel is situated in lovely gardens with plenty to do and if you want to be left on your own then your not bothered by the team of staff that arrange activities.

Rooms are very generous and most have a decent view, all have air conditioning, and although when I was there it died for a week! Not that bad in June but I feel in August it would have been unbearable.

All in all if you want to get away from it all and enjoy a nice quiet break then this hotel is for you, when you arrive at reception just have a look at the names that have came and stayed at this beautiful hotel.

Word of warning though DO NOT BOOK WITH FIRST CHOICE I did and when I complained about the lack of air conditioning they told me as it was not on their brochure or indeed their website then it was nothing to do with them, I did ask how many 4 star hotels in the Mediterranean had no Air Conditioning, they told me that was my “personal view!”

" This is a great hotel for those who... "

This is a great hotel for those who want different kind of holiday from the rest of the Costa del Sol .

The Hotel is the only one worth considering in Algeciras ,has a friendly atmosphere, and is a great place to relax and unwind .

Algeciras is a very Spanish town and has a large port area. If you’re looking for a British Resort then you would have to make your way over to Gibraltar .

However the once you enter the Hotel you barely notice the port due to it’s tranquil atmosphere-however you can see the port control tower.

Algeciras has an excellent beach with a few bars and restaurants , and the town centre also has a variety of bars and shops . There is a new water park and Corte Inglés store.

The Hotel is mainly suited to couples and people looking for a quiet break. Not really suitable for kids as the facilities are geared to Adults and the other resorts on the Costa have a lot more to offer.

Best time to go in Spring/Autumn .
