Good Value Poor Location
Oasis Park is probably one of the better hotels in the concrete jungle which is Calella de la Costa (not to be confused with Calella de Palafrugell which is an altogether smaller & quieter resort) the beach is OK once you get onto it, but that involves crossing the main railway line to Barcelona ! - but lots of shops - if that's what you're into - never tried the nightlife, so don't know about that. The all-inclusive rate was excellent value, restaurant nicely laid out and the food was OK as long as you're not vegetarian (as is my wife) - more often than not, she was stuck with salad and chip butties - even the vegetables frequently had meat mixed in). The rooms are a little on the small side and ours had bunk beds in the corner making it even smaller - good bathroom - tired decor - our rear-facing balcony (if you can call it one) had a super view of a wall (see picture) and a mass of one-foot-thick air-con pipes which emanated a constant buzz - peaceful it wasn't ! - pay the extra for a pool view if you decide to stay here. On the plus side, the pool area was good with three separate pools (one children's) and a jacuzzi - we never had problems finding a sun bed. Parking can be a problem if you hire a car as the hotel car park is 7 euros a day (!) and there's lots of yellow lines which are regularly patrolled by tow trucks. Clientele when we went (September) was mostly French with a few Brits & Spaniards.
Great Hotel!
We returned from this hotel about a week ago. Great hotel as was always kept very clean and in a good location. Nice 5min walk to the beach and the shops. Plenty of choice for food if you are staying all inclusive. The only thing i would say is that if your a vegetarian it is a little limited. There was always something but it was mainly chips and salad, and some days pasta with a variety of different breads, although for breakfast there was quite a lot for non-meat eaters. The hotel does have evening entertainment, when we were there thay had things such as flamenco dancers, live music and bingo nights. The pools were very nice and were also kept very clean. There is a nice sunbathing terrace just up from the pools. I would definetely recommend this hotel and the resort as we had a really enjoyable time and would definetely go again.
Ideal for families
I stayed at this hotel in for 5 nights with my partner and his two daughters aged 14 and 11. We all had a great time. It was the girls first trip abroad and they both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were on the 9th floor which would have been a problem if we had not been fit enough to climb the stairs as the lifts were often busy. The rooms were very clean and of a decent size. There was a distinctive smoky smell in one of the rooms but I think that was probably because we have been used to a smoke free environment in public places for quite some time now in the UK. The smell did become less noticeable after a couple of days. Although there is plenty to do in the resort the girls mostly wanted to stay at the hotel and join in with the activities there. This saved us loads of money of course as we were able to make plenty use of the all inclusive tariff. We did manage to persuade them to go to Barcelona one day - zoo well worth a visit. We found mealtimes not too busy considering it was the height of the season. Great variety of food especially if you like fruit and vegetables. We made a wise choice with this hotel. Excellent value for money particularly for families. If we'd been there as a couple the only thing we would have missed would have been the intimacy at mealtimes.
had a fab stay at the oasis park
we have just returned from a week stay at the oasis park in calella. We booked a last minute holiday to the olympic but after reading the reviews we changed to the oasis park. Could not fault the holiday apart from the weather but you carnt prebook good weather!!! we flew with ryanair who were great. We then arrived at the oasis park to find a pleasantly clean room. (i would advise to request a lower floor room as we did, as the hotel is quite high and there were quite a few british put on the top floor ) bed linen and towels were very clean and the bathroom was also very clean. bed linen and towels were changed everyday. food was great plenty of variety always very fresh and tasty (becareful though as the weather was not to great i gained around 5pounds in a week!!!! well it would of been rude not to try everything haha) the reps were very good their working day must of started around 9-10am everyday and they were still there when we left at around 11pm. Although the evening entertainment was basic it was enjoyable but make sure you are early enough to get a table!!! (before 845pm) even though the hotel was busy we never had to queue for food or drinks. the only thing you have to make sure of is, if you are planning on staying by the pool, take your towels down before breakfast to reserve your sunbed as it gets busy. the resort of calella is great. plenty of shops and a the beach (although sand and shingles) is very nice. the sea is very welcoming and warmer than the hotels pool!!!!. overall we made the most of not so nice weather and had great time.
good value for money
This hotel is excellent for the money. It is clean and the food on the whole is good. Breakfast is plentiful and the cooked selection changes each morning. Lunch can be taken in the restaurant or you can get a burger, hot dog and chips from the bar downstairs. Please note that if you choose to have red wine, this comes from the same dispenser as rose and white wine and is therefore chilled. The only downside to this hotel are the room walls. They are very thin and if you are a light sleeper you will not get much sleep. The air conditioning is the best we have ever had anywhere and you can leave it on all day. Most people have recommended the Beach Boys bar up the road but this was not to our taste as it was plastic chairs and Kareoke. Try the Gran Cafe next door to it, much more pleasant and had happy hour each day between 8pm and 10pm, buy one drink get one free. Also is worth mentioning the mini golf and bowling up the road as well as these are great fun. The hotel was a bit out of town which was nice as you did not get the noise from late night revellers. The town was 10 mins walk away and had hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is lovely but the waves are strong and pull on your legs so be very careful with children. One word of warning, do not buy alcohol in the resort to put in your hand luggage as it will be confiscated at the airport.
Great value for money
Went away to this hotel for 5 days. I'd originally booked the olypic park in calella but after reading the reviews I changed free of charge to this hotel and it was brilliant. I thought the food was brilliant, always great choice and I often left dinner feeling too full as I wanted to try it all. There was never any queuing to get a drink. The spirits were cheap and the beer was barely alcoholic but that was to be expected and stops there being loads of noisy drunks. There were plenty of other options for drinks as well and the hotel is in a supurb location so we often went to one of the many english bars for a beer after the entertainment finished about 11. All in all i couldn't fault thisd hotel. The staff were friendly, our room was right over the restaurant and we never heard anything, there were plenty of sun loungers, food available almost all day, the swimming pools were lovely and best of all it was great value for money. We will definately be returning at the end of the summer.
great
was here in may had a great time food was good i am a very fussy eater but had no problems findin things to eat will be going back
Fantastic Value for Money
Went here after booking through Med Hotels via the internet hotel was exactly as decribed , the service is good, food very good well cooked and presented but a little short on variety. Daytime snacks same everyday Hotdogs Bugers and Chips brilliant for kids. mixed countries using this hotel people from Germany, France, Spain, UK & Holland. Watch the weekends when the hotel and Calella becomes very busy with Spaniards escaping from Barcalona for the weekend. Calella itself undergoing change from package coach tours to smart weekend escape for the Barcalona wealthy, not a bad thing. Whilst there try out the Beach Boys bar down the street 300yds from the front of the Hotel, great service, good fun, good prices, Hotel entertainment dreadful.
would go back
Just spent 4 nights 5 days at the Oasis Park. Got a good deal through local paper and it was worth every penny. Food not cordon bleu but could always find something different the snacks perhaps could have been better. Drinks fine for us and staff all friendly. Rooms basic but very clean no nasty smells. One good night entertainment in hotel but good bars close by. Callella small interesting town. Smokers will find cigs hard to buy only tobacconist sell them even small amount of hotels have a machine. None in supermarkets. Out of the five days we were there one was overcast not sunbathing weather rest of the time good. Would go back again no problem if the price is right.
This hotel is fine.
We stayed here last year as an all inclusive option with a UK coach company on a last minute deal. Expecting very little, even to having to find our own accomodation, we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very clean, reception efficient, food most acceptable with good variety and plentiful. The three swimming pools are excellent and the outside facilities in general are hard to fault. The beach is only a few minutes easy walk away, and the neighbourhood is quite acceptable. On a couple of occasions the all inclusive drinking got the better of some of the guests, and the night became quite noisy, surprisingly these were not from the UK. But this is a consequence you have to expect. The hotel dealt with it quite efficiently. The quality of the all inclusive drinks left something to be desired, but it was exactly as advertised so if you wanted a particular branded drink there were always the many bars across the road. All in all, I would use this hotel again without hesitation.
