Barcelo Isla Canela Reviews
" I have been to this hotel twice;
The first year the hotel was excellent and the views from the balcony were brilliant. But this year the hotel had several buildings squashed next to it, this spoil to view tremendously although the food in the hotel still remained at a high standard.
The pool area is good and the kids club is handy for younger kids.
The bar in the hotel offers a wide range of cocktails, although you may prefer to visit the various bars and restaurants in Ayamonte.
Ayamonte is a quiet town but offers you some lovely shops and a interesting marina.
Another advantage of the location of this hotel is that it is only 15-20minutes to Portugal. So you can visit two countries at once! Tavira and Monte Gordo are beautiful. They offer cobbled streets and beautiful beaches.
Overall I would say that this hotel is brilliant and even though I have already been twice I would certainly go again!!
" This hotel has much to recommend it.... "
Submitted By: Mr P. CovingtonThe staff are helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. Moreover, the food is excellent particularly if you are a meat eater. As veggies we found a lack of food that wasn’t fish based.
The resort itself, far from being a building site is up and coming with a nice beach that is suitable for children. And a reasonable range of supermarkets and restaurants.
Overall we recommend this hotel. Book it on line, avoid the cost of the charter companies and save a packet. I saved in excess of £1000 because it booked the airline ticket via Easyjet, and booked the hotel on line.
Furthermore, I recommend that you hire a car and arrive at Faro. It is very easy to drive on the empty roads whilst the resort itself is rather isolated. Nonetheless, with a car the Algarve, Seville (interesting, but far too hot in August) and the water park Aqualand are all within an hour and half drive.
Overall recommended if you are sick of the plastic Spain offered by the Costas and want a real taste of Andalusia.
Submitted By: Mrs S EvansMy hotel room was clean and tidy but maybe just a little dated and I faced out onto a side street. The room was quiet but I would think if booking this hotel you should try and get a sea view.
The restaurant was fine but it depends what you like to eat. I prefer traditional cooking and eating out and found that I kept wanting to try the local restaurants that were opposite the hotel. Even though this is so it was very nice to sit on the terrace in the morning and have breakfast. Therefore I could recommend B&B but not full board.
There were shows in the hotel and internet access which kept me occupied.
If you are considering this resort you will not go far wrong. You really do feel like you have had a holiday after 2 weeks in Isla Canela. Relax and enjoy.
Lots of development going on around as this is an upcoming resort. The marina at the other end of Isla Canela was pretty too. Food was fantastic and staff always helpful and polite.
Room furniture was in need of update but no other issues. Hope to go again in May.
