After reading all these comments before we went away I was worried to say the least. However, on my return I felt that I had to add some comments as my family and I have just had one of the best holidays ever.
As my last holiday with my mum, brother and sister before I marry next year we couldn’t have asked for a nicer place. The hotel was beautiful, the staff friendly, the food fantastic (I am now 5 pounds heavier after a week!).
The hotel is spread over a vast area and the grounds are very pretty with colourful flowers. The rooms are clean, spacious and have some great views. The hotel is right on the beach. Ok, there is a small bit of seaweed (which is easily avoidable) and a couple of rocks at one end but the beach is clean and quiet and we spent some very happy days bobbing around in the ocean. There are also some great views of the other islands from there.
The pool is huge and has a great pool bar. It never seemed that busy as it was so big! It was also cleaned every morning.
We walked into Mastahari along the track by the beach one evening, which again was well kept and had beautiful views. Mastahari is a beautiful little village with some great little tavernas.
All in all, a very enjoyable holiday, not a single complaint. Ignore the moaners out there and go and have a fab time.

My husband and myself went on this holiday with another couple and their 12 year old son. We thought it was the best holiday we had been on in ages. If you want a peaceful, quiet, relaxing break then this is for you. If you are young and looking for clubs steer clear. Although we loved it, the 12 year old had nothing to do. Just as well he loves the water, as the pool was his only entertainment for a week. Although entertainment is advertised, we did not see any.
The whole place seems to be German or Dutch and I could not get over how rude and unfriendly they are. Don’t even bother saying hello. Thankfully, we had our own company as the only people who spoke to us was another Scottish family. Our room was lovely, large, bright, 1 up overlooking the sea. The air conditioning came on when we turned the electricity on and we did not have to pay for it, but our friends asked why theirs was not on and were told it would cost 6 euros a day!!
Our bedding and towels were changed every day and the grounds are immaculately kept and very pretty.
The drinks were definitely very weak but personally, in that heat I was just as glad. The food was good but very much a canteen atmosphere.
I enjoyed the beach and the walk into Mastahari along the coast was beautiful. It actually made my holiday as I like to have somewhere to walk to along a picturesque route.
I would recommend it to my friends and family.

After reading reviews about this hotel on this page we were very dubious about this holiday. After arriving very early hours of the morning we were escorted to our accommodation by torchlight room was ok but nothing special. Breakfast was excellent as was all meals with excellent choice of cuisine, even my fussy children ate well.
Entertainment team were very enthusiastic and friendly, good with the kids.
Main pool excellent very clean but children’s pool could have done with being cleaned more often.
My main fault was when we were told by the reps in the welcoming meeting that their excursions were the cheapest on the island, I knew this was untrue as we visited Kos town last year and the same excursions were half the price of which they had quoted.
Overall though brilliant holiday with plenty to do on the complex and plenty of free beer and I will go back sometime.

I went with my girlfriend for a relaxing break and that is exactly what we got. I have to say after booking the holiday and then reading this website, I was concerned as there we more negative reviews rather than positive.
Yes it’s a remote resort so if you want a party environment where the place smells of vomit and dirty drains then don’t come here. If you want a chilled relaxing time then this is perfect - although I think you might get bored if you stayed any longer than a week - unless of course you venture out.
The only disappointment we did have was that the room was not great when we got there. Do we what we did and ask to be moved - this was not a problem. My advise is to go for a pool side apartment and another piece of advice is not to go at ground level as from what I could work out the rooms get better the higher you go up.
There is no cash point there so take money and don’t do the excursions the reps recommend as they would be a lot cheaper and less regimented if you did them yourselves.
Buy a mosquito plug otherwise you will get bitten!
The plusses were that the pool is massive and has plenty of room no matter what the crowds are. I have to say the beach next to the resort is not great as it is quite rocky, not very child friendly and has plenty of seaweed. However if you walk about 10 minutes down the beach towards Mastahari (small fishing village) the beach is lovely and sandy, however you don’t have the benefits of free drinks etc, although the novelty of this does wear off and a bottle of water form the supermarket is only 0.45-0.70 euros. I love beaches, although the pool (fresh water) totally made up for the average beach.
The food was MUCH better than expected even for my girlfriend who is a fussy eater. There were plenty of salads, at least 2 meat dishes, 1 fish and plenty of chips and rice etc., for people with the slightly blander pallet. At the end of the day you pay for what you get and cuisine does veer slightly towards the Greek Cuisine which you’d kind of expect being in Greece.
Reception are generally sweet but pretty useless.
I didn’t personally pay for the air conditioning as it was already there and we also had a TV (if you don’t have one - request one). You have to give them a 10 euro deposit which you get back, although the only channel you are going to understand will be BBC world which is actually quite good to let you know what is happening in the world.
Definitely go to eat in Mastihari for one night, as it will make you feel like you are on holiday at a later stage of the trip when maybe the canteen gets a bit of a drag. The sword fish and the mixed grills at the tavernas on the beach were out of this world.
We also took a cab to Kos town one night (20 euros in cab each way) although well worth it. Personally I would recommend eating in the old town as opposed to the Marina where you get hounded by the restaurant PR's.
There is volley ball on the beach and water polo every day for the active which I loved and the entertainment guys were very enthusiastic German guys.
In the evenings there was tendency for people to eat and then go to the main bar and stare at each other from table to table. My advice is to get up off you’re a**e and talk to people and you will be amazed how this can turn around your holiday. If you are in a couple and you don’t make an effort you could get quite bored.
The disco (on 3 times a week) I have to say is hilarious in that it is so bad. I love my music and I think the guy who was the DJ had a pre-recorded tape that he played each time we went - he did a great impression of pretending to DJ. The disco starts at 11.30, which means that you will need to pay for your drinks. Beers 2.5 euros and spirits 4 euros.
You can get drunk on the all inclusive drinks, although I was pretty certain the spirits were watered down (except the Ouzo, although I still havn't met anyone who drinks this by choice) as I have never drank that much vodka before. Therefore I drank double to be sure. I went early season so it was not to bad, although in the evening there were a few nights where queues for the bar were about 10-15 people long which kind of sucks and may feel a bit humiliating. Maybe the larger queues are more the norm in peak season - not sure.
The beer tastes good but again - I would question its strength. I think the alcohol content was 1.5% for all of those who care.
In a nutshell I found everyone (customers) really friendly and ultimately if you go on a cheap holiday you get what you pay for. Once again I stress that if you are going in groups of 2, you must be sociable, or love each other dearly as otherwise you might get a bit bored.
Yes its all inclusive but take money as you will need it if you want to go off site or go to the wacky crazy disco party.

We've just returned and feel compelled to counter the poor reviews we read before we left. We went expecting the worst and were more than pleasantly surprised. We would go back!!
The room accommodation is basic for a 4* hotel but the communal facilities are well laid out and maintained. 2 kids play areas, crazy golf, outdoor amphitheatre (kids disco and evening entertainment), swan lake, zoo, tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, 2 pools, games room, etc. 2 sections of private sandy beach to choose from with loungers and umbrellas which was kept reasonably clean almost every day.
The restaurant is at little like a big canteen by the very nature of the "all-inclusive set up" but the food was plentiful and excellent and the free drinks enjoyed by all ages! (too much by some inevitably). Local village was a short walk away and typically Greek with water sports, parks, football pitch, etc.
Very much a German and English resort but the staff could speak both languages and were both helpful and pleasant.
10 out of 10 would have been possible if the room accommodation was a little more modern and comfortable and we had not been disturbed on two occasions by revellers returning from the bar completely ****** despite paying for their drinks from 11.00pm!!
If you're thinking of going, don't be put off by the poor reviews but don't go with high expectations - you get what you pay for, it is a cheap, relaxed, comfortable hotel.
Be careful booking with Lastminute.com - they quoted the wrong price and moved the flights around at the last minute but proved impossible to contact once you have confirmed the booking.

Having read numerous negative reports about this hotel, I was a little concerned about our forthcoming venture to Achilleas Beach.
As a couple, I have to say we had a great time. It was Whitsun holiday, busy as hell as yet the staff coped admirably and were most accommodating with any requests we made.
It has to be said it was not our expectation of a 4 star. However, it is Greece where things are generally more basic. Mastahari is only 20 minutes away and has delightful tavernas serving fresh food daily at very reasonable prices. Well worth a few nights out - so take extra cash!
I admit, perhaps the entertainment for kids e.g. kids club was a bit sparce but the pool is enormous, there is table pool, crazy golf and various other activities throughout the day.
All in all a good holiday if you don't expect too much! Enjoy - yammas

We booked the flight and accommodation separately so it worked out cheaper than if we had booked as a package. Considering we booked a week before we flew the flight was definitely cheaper than if we had booked early.
When we got to the airport we took the local taxi, which was 15 euros. The airport was only a 10-15 minute ride away.
When we arrived we were allocated our room. I had read all the reviews before going so I went with an open mind. All I wanted was a break away from everyone and everything and I got that. I have to say that the rooms are not luxurious. They are very basic. There were four of us - my husband and I and our 2 children. The room we were given was disappointing. As soon as we entered, we walked into the main bedroom. Basically there was a double bed but with two separate mattresses. It was like sleeping on two beds. There was a bit of a passage with the bathroom on the left (bath with hand held shower, toilet and sink) and straight ahead there was another room with two marble bases with mattresses on top serving as beds, very basic. There was air-conditioning in the main bedroom but none in the second one. It was very hot and I was concerned how the children were going to sleep. We went to reception to see if we could move to another accommodation with air conditioning in both rooms. They said that they couldn’t do anything that night but to see them the following morning. We had to leave the bedroom door open hoping the children would get a bit of cool air from our air conditioner. We were moved to another accommodation the next day. Similar layout but with 2 air conditioners.
Food was good but after a few days we got sick of looking at the same things. The salad table was the same everyday, twice a day. Plenty of food, eat as much as you like, it was a shame they had no fresh fruit juices, they were all diluted. Another shame was the lack of fresh fruit. There was only watermelon (very sweet) and whole apples and nectarines everyday twice a day. We didn’t go hungry; in fact we over ate because of the variety of food.
We ate out twice, once in Mastihari. We thought the food was terrible and expensive, and the portions were small. We may have picked the wrong restaurant or dishes but we didn’t enjoy it. The second time we ate out was in Kos town. Same experience, very expensive, small portions and not tasty. We had 4 soft drinks, 1 pizza, 2 stuffed tomatoes, which came with chips and chicken with pita bread which came with chips. All that came to 34 euros, which was too pricey. Compared to this I thought the hotel food was tasty and plentiful. The only drawback we felt with the hotel food was that everything was at set times. If we had a late night we had to be up early to catch breakfast. Breakfast was until 9.30.
There wasn’t very much to do. There was even less for the children. There was a games room with 2 table tennis tables and 1 pool table. There was a kids club in the mornings, only younger children tended to go. The swimming pool was huge. Lots of Germans, lots of topless women around pool area and beach. Beach was very disappointing, there were 2 small sections, it was sandy but very rocky and seaweedy near the water. There were plenty of sun beds and parasols, ideal for reading. After the evening meal everyone headed for the bar as there wasn’t anything to do. There was entertainment in the form of a Greek night which was enjoyable one night.
The reception were very friendly and helpful. Our air conditioning broke down 2nd night after moving. We were offered new rooms but we couldn’t be bothered to pack up and move again. We made do with a fan from reception. The hotel does not accept any credit cards, which was a nuisance. We changed more money when we went to Kos town. There is no money exchange on resort. Even in Kos town there were few shops and restaurants that accepted credit cards, most wanted cash. Definitely take euros with you.
There are lots of mosquitoes there. I was bitten terribly during the first two days and needed to see a doctor. Reception will call one if needed. Once again cash only. I paid 92 euros, 70 for the doctor, 5 for the delivery of medicine and 17 for the medicine. I bought some local repellent, which did the trick, and didn’t get any more bites. Another tip. Kill all mosquitoes in your room, before going to sleep, they are easy to see. Turn one light on and they will be drawn towards it. Once you have got rid of them, do not open any windows and be careful as you go out the main door. We had no problems with mosquitoes in the room after that.
Overall this hotel is not 4 star. Go with an open mind and don’t expect too much. It is ideal if you are stressed and in need of relaxation. Take a couple of books. There is only one shop across the road for water, drinks, crisps and basic needs. Other than that it is miles from anywhere.
